TULOY ANG BAGONG PAG-ASA | DA BP2 XI Program successfully turn over additional agricultural support to Northern Cluster Beneficiary.

In continued support to the established integration site of the DA BP2 program- Davao region, The Obu-manuvu Unified Ancestral Domain Tribal Council for Elders and Leaders, Inc. (OMUADTCEL) in Sitio Ladia-an, Marilog District, Davao City received agricultural inputs such as organic fertilizers, agricultural supplies for vegetable and livestock production, as well as hand tools and small equipment necessary for their farming activities.

Present during the turn over ceremony held today were Mahabbok Luis A. Lambac- leader of omuadtcel along Datu Lipatuan Joel Unad and with several Clan leaders constituting the said IP group, Mr Juanario Bentain, Municipal Agriculturist of Marilog Dist., Mr Simeon Fernandez, Program Focal of BP2, Ms Marie Ann Constantino, Operations Division Chief and former program focal, as well as Mr. John Paul L. Matuguinas and Ms. Pearl Catherine T. Pepito, DA BP2 program technical members.

Mahabbok Lambac thanked the Department of Agriculture for extending support to their group which would help in their endeavor to alleviate the living conditions of IP farmers in Marilog.

Ms Constantino and Mr. Fernandez in turn, both thanked the clan leaders and all the stakeholders for their cooperation to ensure the program is well utilized and implemented. They concluded the ceremony by highlighting the programs bid to not leave anyone behind to achieve balanced regional development.

DA BP2 XI IN ACTION | Department of Agriculture Region XI Provided Livelihood Support to Balik Probinsya Bagong Pag Asa Beneficiaries of the Municipalities of New Corella, Carmen and Sto. Tomas in Davao del Norte Province

As the year 2023 started, about 3,420 ready-to-lay free range chicken and some agricultural support inputs such as feederer, waterer (container) and multi-vitamins (biologics) were delivered and distributed to 57 project cooperators of the DA-Balik Probinsya Bagong Pag Asa Program (BP2) in the Municipalities of New Corella, Carmen and Sto. Tomas in Davao del Norte Province last January 4 to 6, 2023. Each beneficiaries received 60 heads of ready -to-lay chicken and pieces of waterer, feederer and multi-vitamins (biologics).

These beneficiaries are 18 individual family from the Municipality of New Corella; 17 from Municipality of Carmen and 20 from the Municipality of Sto. Tomas . While the Municipal Agriculture Offices (MAO) of New Corella and Carmen also received 80 and 40 chickens with inputs respectively.

These provision of support to BP2 beneficiaries is intended to provide a family’s livelihood and source of income to returning individuals or families to the different provinces from the key cities of the country and were also affected during the pandemic. While their respective Municipal Agricultural Offices serving as the frontline service provider for technical, learning site, agricultural support and a collaborating partner of the Department of Agriculture XI Balik Probinsya Program also received some pocket of intervention.

Present and helping the distribution of these items were no less than Honorable Mayor Roland S. Dejesica of the Municipality of Sto Tomas and his Municipal Agriculture Officer Elmer Degorio at the Municipal Gym in January 6, 2023. While Municipal Agriculture Officer Robert Oracion and his Agricultural Technician Joey Frontreras and a staff from Municipal Veterinarian with the Captain of Brgy. Carcor also assisted and witnessed the distribution at their Municipal Gym and at Purok Mambing in the Municipality of New Corella in January 4,2023.

The next day was done in Municipality of Carmen which was witnessed by the Municipal Agricultural Officer Leonila Quiblatin and his Agricultural Technicians who also inspect the health status of the said chicken.

These ready-to-lay chicken were supplied by the Juniel’s Farm Agrivet Supplies and they were also provided with initial stater feeds to be used by the cooperators.

The distribution was facilitated by the BP2 Regional Project Led by Senior Science Research Specialist Simeon C. Fernandez and Ms. Janice Seraspe, BP2 TWG. Assisting were the different Municipal Agricultural Officers (MAO) and Agricultural Technicians and Agricultural Vets from respective municipalities.

Prior to the actual distribution of the chicken, the BP2 Regional Team in partnership with the Municipal Agricultural Offices in the three municipalities in November 2022 last year, had conducted a series of technology training on chicken (poultry) production and management, small ruminants (livestock) management and vegetables and field crops production and management to these beneficiaries in order to capacitate them in the management of the different agricultural commodities provided by the Department of Agriculture. Experts and subject matter specialist from the Department of Agriculture and National Dairy Authority were the resource persons during this kind of training conducted in the Municipalities.
