BENEFITS OF TREE MULCH
Reduces Evaporation Of Soil Moisture: Water in the soil does not escape from under plastic mulch. Plants will need less watering. (Watering may still be needed when there is no rain or during drought.)

Conserves Fertility Of The Soil: Fertilizers from around the plant are prevented from leaching away through the soil, especially in strong rain.

Reduces/Eliminates W**d Problems: Unwanted wild grasses and weeds are denied sunlight and are unable to grow. There will be no grass and weeds to compete with the plants for nutrients.

Prevents Drowning Of Plants: During heavy rain, excess water runs off the mulch surface and off the plant beds, virtually eliminating drowning and water stress.

Improves Soil Structure: Crusting and compaction of the soil will not occur. The soil under the plastic mulch remains loose, friable and aerated. Roots have access to adequate oxygen, engendering excellent microbial activity.

Preserves/Safeguard Roots: Injury to plant roots are prevented by eliminating the need to cultivate close to the plants.

Better Fruit Condition: Cleaner and less rotting since fruits do not touch the ground

Reduces Plant Diseases: The soil is protected from contamination/infestation with air borne diseases.
