DCPO Ensures Swift Response During Davao Convention Center Fire

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO), under the leadership of PCOL PETER B MADRIA, together with PMAJ EMMANUEL D MANLATICAN, promptly supervised the deployment of personnel during the fire incident at the Davao Convention Center along Torres Street, Davao City.

DCPO units immediately secured the perimeter, directed crowd movement, and assisted in the orderly evacuation of civilians. Their strong on-ground presence proved vital in preventing panic, stampede, and opportunistic criminal activity such as looting, while also ensuring that emergency responders were able to operate without obstruction.

The importance of police visibility was strongly demonstrated during the incident, as the immediate deployment of uniformed personnel helped maintain public confidence and order in a high-stress environment. Visible police presence served not only as a deterrent to potential lawless elements but also as a stabilizing force that guided civilians to safety and reinforced coordination among responding agencies. DCPO Ensures Full Deployment Amid Magnitude 7.8 Earthquake

Davao City - June 8, 2026, 9:00 AM

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO), under the leadership of PCOL PETER B MADRIA, City Director, immediately activated its emergency response protocols and conducted a safety and security assessment following the Magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Maasim, Sarangani (Region XII) and was strongly felt across the Davao Region.

In response to the incident, PCOL MADRIA directed all deployed units and personnel to coordinate closely with members of the Safety and Security Cluster to ensure the swift conduct of rescue, relief, and security operations in affected areas.

He emphasized that the safety and security of the public remain the utmost priority of the DCPO. In the aftermath of the earthquake, the DCPO fully mobilized its personnel and resources to support rapid response efforts, maintain peace and order, and extend immediate assistance to affected communities.

The public is urged to remain calm, stay vigilant, and cooperate with authorities as assessment, rescue, and recovery operations continue. The DCPO also encourages Dabawenyos to support one another during this critical time as the city works toward recovery and resilience.

Under the leadership of City Director, PCOL PETER BAUZON MADRIA, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) remains unwavering in its mission to protect the city with the active support of the community and barangay officials.

During the week, DCPO conducted:

44 anti-illegal drug operations, resulting in the arrest of 47 suspects and the confiscation of 138.11 grams of shabu (SDP: Php 939,148.00), and 36.89 grams of ma*****na (SDP: Php 4,426.80).

15 anti-illegal gambling operations, leading to the arrest of 15 gamblers, seizure of Php 6,150.00 bet money, and filing of 15 cases.

39 operations against wanted persons, arresting 39 individuals, including 19 most wanted persons.

23 operations on loose fi****ms, resulting in the arrest of 5 suspects, seizure of 6 firearm, 9 surrendered firearm, 3 recovered firearm, 6 turn-in for safe keeping and 5 cases filed.

In total, 106 individuals were arrested for various offenses, underscoring DCPOโ€™s commitment to law enforcement while strictly adhering to human rights and Police Operational Procedures.

These achievements reflect not only the dedication of the men and women of DCPO but also the strong partnership with the community, barangay officials, and the Local Government Unit. Together, we continue to build a safer and more peaceful Davao City.

On June 5, 2026, at 6:25 PM, PCOL PETER BAUZON MADRIA, City Director of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), joined the opening ceremony of Duaw Davao 2026 โ€“ The Kick-Off held at Rizal Park, Poblacion District, Davao City.

The event officially marked the beginning of the cityโ€™s month-long celebration that highlights Davao Cityโ€™s rich culture, tourism, heritage, and strong community spirit. Now on its third year, Duaw Davao continues to serve as a platform that promotes unity, cultural pride, and meaningful engagement among Dabawenyos and visiting guests.

The presence of the Davao City Police Office underscores its vital role in ensuring the safety and security of all participants, performers, organizers, residents, and tourists attending the festivities. DCPO personnel are actively deployed to provide police visibility, crowd management, traffic assistance, area security, and public safety monitoring throughout the duration of the celebration. Strengthening Police-Community Partnership Through Meet and Greet with Barangay Officials and Stakeholders

Davao City โ€“ On June 5, 2026, at 8:57 AM, PCOL PETER BAUZON MADRIA, City Director of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), together with PMAJ REJIE G TORRITA, Station Commander of Police Station 13 Mandug, spearheaded a Meet and Greet activity with Barangay Captains and stakeholders under the jurisdiction of PS 13 Mandug. The activity was held at the Ciudades Visitorโ€™s Lounge, Mandug, Davao City.

The primary purpose of the gathering was to strengthen collaboration between the police and the community, address peace and order concerns, and reinforce the shared responsibility of maintaining public safety through active coordination and partnership.

The meeting was attended by various barangay officials and stakeholders, namely: Hon. Merlito Laran of Barangay Acacia; Hon. Peter Mercado of Barangay Callawa; Hon. Elmer Ototan of Barangay Mandug; Hon. Eduardo Balaga of Barangay Indangan; Hon. Jalel Cadunan of Barangay Waan; Mr. Marcelo M. Go, Corporate Security Director of Torre Lorenzo Development Corporation; Engr. Dominador Benacer, Head Engineer of The Prestige Subdivision; and representatives from Deca Phase 2 Homeowners Association headed by Mr. Brandon Khalid Gorospe.

During the activity, PMAJ TORRITA presented the current crime situation within the area of responsibility and outlined the intervention programs and strategies being implemented by the DCPO to further enhance peace and order across the city. An open forum followed, providing an avenue for barangay officials and stakeholders to raise concerns, share insights, and discuss community-related issues.
