PNP STATEMENT
The Philippine National Police (PNP), through its Health Service, provides the following update on the condition of former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan.
Mr. Bonoan has been under the care of the PNP General Hospital since the evening of June 1, 2026, for medical evaluation and appropriate management.
Based on the latest assessment of the PNP Health Service, he is currently conscious, coherent, and oriented. He has no complaints of headache, dizziness, or any immediate distress at this time. He remains under close observation by the hospital’s medical team and continues to receive appropriate medical attention. Necessary diagnostic procedures are being undertaken to further guide his treatment and ensure comprehensive care.
The PNP likewise confirms that security measures and custodial protocols remain in place throughout his confinement at the hospital.
Further updates will be issued as developments warrant.

Chief, TPU Radio Interview with Bombo Radyo Davao

DCPO Tourist Police Unit Logs 239 Anti-Smoking Citations Enforcement for the Month of May 2026
Under the leadership of PCOL PETER B MADRIA, City Director, Davao City Police Office (DCPO), through the Tourist Police Unit (TPU) headed by PMAJ ROEL C IBAÑEZ, Chief, TPU recorded 239 citation tickets issued for smoking violations from May 1-31, 2026, amounting to a total of ₱ 717,000.00
The enforcement drive aims to strictly implement the city's ban on smoking in public places, supporting broader goals of clean air, public health, and discipline.
The TPU reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining these operations as part of its ongoing efforts to maintain peace and order and ensure a clean, healthy, and welcoming environment for both tourists and residents in Davao City.

DCPO Tourist Police Return Lost Wallet Containing ₱7,770 at Poblacion Market Central
DCPO Tourist Police personnel successfully returned a lost wallet containing cash and ATM cards to its rightful owner on May 30, 2026, at Poblacion Market Central.
At approximately 12:40 PM, TPU duty personnel recovered a wallet containing ₱7,770 in cash and several ATM cards.
The officers promptly took steps to locate the owner and successfully turned over the wallet after proper verification. The incident highlights the TPU's continued commitment to public service and safeguarding personal property within the city's busy commercial areas.

TPU Chief Lectures Criminology Interns on Standard Police Procedures
PMAJ ROEL C IBAÑEZ, Chief, TPU conducted an educational lecture for criminology interns from the University of Mindanao on May 29, 2026, focusing on standard police procedures, specifically the proper ex*****on of an arrest.
The session commenced at approximately 1:00 PM at the TPU Office located along JP Laurel Avenue, Bajada, Davao City. The lecture provided the aspiring law enforcers with practical insights into real-world police operations, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and field application.

The City Government of Davao recognized the outstanding commitment of the DCPO Tourist Police Unit (TPU) in enforcing the city's anti-smoking ordinance during the 24th Anniversary of the Anti-Smoking Campaign and World No To***co Day on May 29, 2026.
PMAJ ROEL C IBAÑEZ, Chief, TPU received a Plaque of Appreciation at the ceremony held at The Ritz Hotel at Garden Oasis in Obrero, Davao City. The event, which began at approximately 9:00 AM, carried the theme "Wag Magpaloko sa V**e at Sigarilyo!"

The DCPO Tourist Police Unit (TPU), led by PMAJ ROEL C IBAÑEZ, Chief, TPU conducted a traditional flag raising ceremony on May 28, 2026, at the TPU Office, JP Laurel Avenue, Bajada, Davao City, in observance of National Flag Day.
The ceremony commenced at 8:00 AM and served as a solemn tribute to the Philippine flag, which was first hoisted on May 28, 1898, marking the nation's emergence from colonial rule and the birth of the First Philippine Republic. National Flag Day is celebrated annually to instill patriotism and nationalism among Filipinos, remembering the flag as a symbol of hope and freedom during the tyrannous era of Spanish colonization.

DCPO Tourist Police Welcome Criminology Students for Internship Program
The DCPO Tourist Police Unit (TPU), headed by PMAJ ROEL C IBAÑEZ, Chief, TPU accommodated criminology students from University of Mindanao, Matina Campus on March 25, 2026, as part of their Internship Program requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Criminology course.
The students are currently undergoing On-the-Job Training and Community Immersion under an existing Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Higher Education Institution (HEI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
During their orientation at the TPU office led by Chief, TPU, students were briefed on several key topics, including the background, key duties and functions, and the deployment of Tourist Police Unit.
The initiative reflects the Davao City Police Office commitment to supporting future law enforcers with practical exposure to police operations and community engagement.
