In light of the recent advisory from the City Government of Davao regarding the adoption of work-from-home arrangements in government offices and the suspension of face-to-face classes due to the recent earthquake and possible aftershocks, the Barangay Assembly Day in Barangay Mintal will continue as scheduled tomorrow, June 9, 2026, at the Mintal Gymnasium.

The Barangay Government of Mintal remains in close coordination with concerned authorities and has taken necessary measures to ensure the safety of all attendees. The activity serves as an important platform for community participation, transparency, and updates on programs, projects, and concerns affecting our barangay.

For residents who may not be able to attend in person, the Barangay Assembly Day will also be streamed live on the official Barangay Mintal page, allowing everyone to stay informed and participate virtually from the safety of their homes.

We encourage everyone who is able to attend to remain vigilant, observe safety protocols, and stay updated through official government advisories.

Due to the recent earthquake experienced in Davao City, classes at all levels, both public and private institutions, and work in all local and national government offices within the city are hereby suspended effective immediately, today, June 8, 2026.

STATEMENT
June 04, 2026

Garbage collection operations are currently experiencing delays due to the closure of the New Carmen Sanitary Landfill as ordered by DENR, under the leadership of Secretary Juan Miguel Cuna.

The longer this situation continues, the greater the risk of a public health and sanitation problem, not because of the waste itself, but because of the bureaucratic inaptitude of DENR.

The people living around the landfill have already been evacuated. The threat to human life has been addressed. What remains are corrective measures that can be undertaken while allowing landfill operations to continue based on sound and practical judgement.

Instead, DENR chose to suspend the entire operation without providing a clear timeline for reopening.

To manage waste collection moving forward, we have identified additional collection points, including one in front of the DENR XI office, so they can personally appreciate the volume of garbage that accumulates when an essential public service is halted indefinitely.

We are complying with all requirements. We only hope that decisions affecting around 750 tons of waste daily and nearly two million Dabawenyos are guided not only by regulations, but also by practical realities and common sense.

Giawhag karon sa Mintal Resource Collectors’ Association ang tanang Dabawenyo nga sugdan ang husto nga waste segregation sa ilang mga panimalay taliwala sa kasamtangang problema sa basura sa syudad.
Kini human maapektuhan ang operasyon sa landfill tungod sa bag-ohay lang nga nahitabong trash slide, hinungdan nga adunay limitasyon sa paglabay sa basura karong mga panahona.
Matud sa asosasyon, importante nga magsugod ang proper waste segregation mismo sa mga kabalayan aron maminusan ang gidaghanon sa basura nga ginadala ngadto sa landfill.
Gipasabot usab nila nga daghang materyales nga kasagarang ginatan-aw lamang nga “basura” ang mahimo pa diay’ng ma-recycle ug mahimong mapuslan.
Giawhag usab nila ang publiko nga ilain ang recyclable materials sama sa plastik, botelya, karton, ug metal aron makatabang sa pagpakunhod sa basura nga ginatambak sa landfill ug makatabang usab sa mga recyclers ug waste collectors.
