PNP KEEPS WATCH AS FILIPINOS REMEMBER DEPARTED LOVED ONES
As millions of Filipinos continue to visit cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaria on All Souls’ Day, the Philippine National Police (PNP) is sustaining its security operations nationwide to ensure that families can observe the occasion safely, peacefully, and without disruption.
Under the leadership of Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), police personnel remain deployed in cemeteries and other major convergence areas, providing assistance, managing crowds, maintaining order, and responding to public safety concerns.
Based on the nationwide monitoring report, an estimated 40,740,246 visitors had been recorded in 5,311 cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaria from October 30 to November 2, as of 6:00 AM on November 2. Of this figure, 1,695,440 visitors were recorded during the November 2 monitoring period as of 6:00 AM.
Alongside crowd management and public assistance, police personnel also continued enforcing regulations on prohibited items inside cemetery premises. A total of 6,499 prohibited items had been confiscated nationwide, including 879 pointed or bladed weapons, 62 alcoholic drinks, 2,817 lighters, 1,739 cigarette and v**e products, 180 cooking materials, 397 flammable substances, and other restricted items.
The PNP has maintained its nationwide deployment, supported by personnel from other government agencies and community force multipliers, with police assistance desks and emergency response teams positioned to help visitors, particularly children, senior citizens, and persons needing immediate assistance.
Chief PNP PGen Nartatez emphasized that the police presence during All Souls’ Day goes beyond maintaining order, as it also means being accessible to families who may need help during their visit.
"Alam naming mahalaga ang araw na ito sa bawat pamilyang Pilipino. Kaya habang inaalala ninyo ang inyong mga mahal sa buhay, narito ang inyong kapulisan upang tumulong at tiyaking ligtas ang inyong pagdalaw. Hindi lamang kami nakabantay sa seguridad; handa rin kaming umalalay sa sinumang nangangailangan," PGen Nartatez said.
He also reminded the public to remain vigilant, safeguard their personal belongings, keep children within sight, follow cemetery regulations, and immediately approach the nearest police assistance desk or personnel for any concern or emergency.
The continuing security operations reflect the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), through strategic personnel deployment, active monitoring, and coordination with local government units and partner agencies, in support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to ensure public safety and accessible government service.
As the observance continues, the PNP remains committed to keeping its personnel visible, responsive, and ready to assist the public, embodying its mantra, “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”
