The Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) is a top award from the Philippine government for cities and towns that do well in key areas of governance. To get the SGLG, local government units (LGUs) need to meet high standards in ten important areas:
1. Financial Administration: Managing budgets well and collecting taxes efficiently.
2. Disaster Preparedness: Having plans and resources ready for emergencies.
3. Social Protection and Sensitivity: Providing services for vulnerable groups.
4. Health Compliance and Responsiveness: Offering quality healthcare and being ready for health emergencies.
5. Sustainable Education: Supporting quality education for everyone.
6. Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness: Creating a supportive environment for businesses.
7. Safety, Peace, and Order: Keeping the community safe and peaceful.
8. Environmental Management: Protecting natural resources and managing waste effectively.
9. Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture, and Arts: Promoting tourism and preserving cultural heritage.
10. Youth Development: Supporting youth through community programs.
On June 13, 2024, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region XII held a regional assessment for the city of General Santos at Greenleaf Hotel. The Regional Assessment Team checked how well the LGU met these ten governance areas. This thorough check ensures that only LGUs showing excellence and commitment to public service get the SGLG.

Isaiah 9:6-7
For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over His kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.
Merry Christmas from our SPMCO Family to yours.

Mr. Gabriel Francis Glenville Gonzalez, SPMCO Head, in his resounding words for the introductory surprise announcement as the SPMCO and City Administrator Atty Franklin Jeng Gacal Jr. conferred the Plaque of Recognition to City Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao (aka LGP Cares) during the State of the City Address 2023, for her unprecedented performance as Local Chief Executive who exemplifies leadership by example with 100% attendance to LGU-wide convocation program in the entire first year of her term as City Mayor of General Santos City:
βIN MY 38 HUMBLE YEARS OF SERVICE UNDER THE ADMINISTRATIONS OF 10 DIFFERENT LOCAL CHIEF EXECUTIVES, FROM THE MAYORSHIP OF THEN MAYOR ANTONIO C ACHARON UP TO PRESENT, FROM THE YEAR 1986 TO 2023, I CAN HARDLY REMEMBER A BOSS WHO WOULD ALWAYS ARRIVE AHEAD OF ME, IF NOT MOST OF US, EVERY CONVOCATION PROGRAM. THIS BUSY MAYOR ALSO SELDOM MISSES TO ARRIVE EARLY OR ON TIME DURING THE MEETINGS THAT SHE CALLS FOR. TRULY, TIMELINESS FOR HER IS AN ANCHOR OF HER BRAND OF LEADERSHIP.
SO, HERE'S TO HER, A SHINING EXAMPLE OF HOW EMBRACING THE GIFT OF TIME CAN TRANSFORM LIVES AND UPLIFT SPIRITS. MAY SHE
CONTINUE HER DEDICATION TO PUNCTUALITY TO LIGHT THE WAY
FOR OTHERS AND LEAD US TO EVEN GREATER ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
THE BEST LEADERSHIP IS LEADERSHIP BY EXAMPLE. KEEP CHERISHING EVERY TICK OF THE CLOCK, FOR IN DOING SO, YOU'RE WEAVING A LEGACY OF INTENTION, IMPACT, AND INSPIRATION.β
