In the spirit of youth lies the power to create change. This year’s "Linggo ng Kabataan: Hinugyaw sa Timog 2025" calls us to unite that passion with purpose, creativity, and the vision of a sustainable future.

On August 22, 2025, the Dadiangas South Gymnasium, General Santos City, became the gathering place for young dreamers and doers. With the theme “Local Youth Actions for SDG’s and Beyond,” the learners from Irineo, Cronasia, and Golden State College came together in one celebration for action, creativity, and shared vision.

May this moment remind us that the strength of a generation lies not in what it inherits, but in what it dares to build—where every step forward is a step for all, and every dream becomes a foundation for generations yet to come. 🌍🙌

The BKD officers successfully conducted a 𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗴𝗲 last August 13, 2025, promoting cleanliness and environmental care. This initiative reminds everyone to practice the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) and to segregate trash properly for a cleaner and more sustainable community.

On July 25, 2025, the 4th Metrian Learner Leaders’ Oath Taking and SOLGA marked a powerful moment—the official rise of the new Officers from different Organizations, including the newest Sports Club for S.Y. 2025–2026. United in purpose, student leaders from every grade stood together to commit themselves to service, truth, and excellence.

May this be the first step in a journey where leadership is not worn, but lived; where every act uplifts, and every choice echoes the heart of a true Metrian.

On September 26, 2024, Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) of Irineo L. Santiago National High School hosted a 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴 Prevention awareness For grade 10 students with the theme: "Don't Let Drugs Keep You Away from Your Dreams."

The event highlighted the importance of staying drug-free to pursue our dreams and create a brighter future. Through inspiring talks and eye-opening discussions, students were reminded of the dangers of drug use and the strength of making positive choices.

Irineo L. Santiago National Highschool of Metro Dadiangas Student Leaders across various organizations and clubs took their 𝑴𝑨𝑺𝑺 𝑶𝑨𝑻𝑯 𝑻𝑨𝑲𝑰𝑵𝑮 at the School Gymnasium!

Special Guests were invited; Mr. Ernesto J. Vigafria, PDO I-Learner Formation, Ms. Elinor Gumama, former SSLG Vice-President, and School Principal Iris R. Visaya.

The event Highlights SK Kagawad Ida Pangato's inspiring message during the event, alongside SK Assistant Secretary Louis Joseph Baluran, both as ambassadors for SK Chairperson Chelsy Kate Bañas.

Another highlight was the 𝙎𝙊𝙇𝙂𝘼 of current SSLG president Lorhien Shaine Boiser, sharing her commitments, and proposed plans for the School with outstanding confidence!

The event concluded with a wonderful celebration, a dance and a captivating song from 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙀𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙜𝙖, capturing beautiful moments from across all Organizations.

𝐀 𝐕𝐎𝐘𝐀𝐆𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑

Held at the Ilo-Ilo Grand Hotel, the 𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 gathered dedicated Ka-Barkadas across the regions of the three (3) major islands on 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟯 𝘁𝗼 𝟮𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰. A united effort made by the 𝘽𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙪 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 - 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘿𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 (𝘽𝙇𝙎𝙎-𝙔𝙁𝘿) of the 𝘿𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 and 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝘿𝙧𝙪𝙜𝙨 𝘽𝙤𝙖𝙧𝙙 opened the doors for interactive sessions and activities in order to promote communities from substance abuse.

With the theme, “𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫, 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬,” this convention was created to create platforms to strengthen the BKD initiatives in schools and communities against substance abuse.

According to the Dangerous Drugs Board, this movement highlights a highlights an imperative breakthrough in encouraging youth participation and empowerment within young Ka-Barkadas

“This convention marks yet another significant milestone in inspiring youth engagement and empowerment within the Barkada Kontra Droga movement,” a statement released by the Dangerous Drugs Board on the 4th National BKD Convention.

During the 4th National Barkada Kontra Droga Convention 2024, Executive Director - Undersecretary Earl Saavedra of the Dangerous Drugs Board underscored in his keynote message the pivotal role of young people in becoming proactive agents of change by engaging with their local communities. He emphasized the importance of disseminating accurate information to combat drug abuse and promote prevention education effectively.

This is very dangerous, since secondhand smoker is more dangerous than the smoke inhaled directly from the cigerette or e-cigaretter. This means that those around you are more prone to health concerns such as lung diseases.
