The Office of the Provincial Cooperative Development Officer (OPCDO) successfully conducted the Training on Parliamentary Procedure for Effective Cooperative Governance, bringing together cooperative officers, and management staff for a two-day capability-building activity aimed at strengthening democratic leadership and organizational governance within cooperatives.
The training highlighted the importance of parliamentary procedure in ensuring orderly, transparent, and participatory meetings. Participants were equipped with essential knowledge and practical skills on meeting management, handling motions, voting procedures, rules of debate, and proper decision-making processes.
Through interactive discussions, workshops, demonstrations, role-playing activities, and group sharing sessions, participants gained hands-on experience in applying parliamentary procedures in actual meeting scenarios. The activity also emphasized the roles and responsibilities of officers in maintaining effective and democratic governance practices within their respective cooperatives.
Adding inspiration and significance to the activity, the participants were honored by the surprise visit of Usec. Alexander Raquepo on the second day of the training. During his visit, Usec. Raquepo delivered an inspiring message emphasizing the importance of good governance, leadership, and unity in strengthening the cooperative sector. His presence motivated the participants to continue upholding transparency, accountability, and democratic principles in their respective organizations.
The initiative forms part of OPCDOโs continuing efforts to strengthen cooperative leadership and promote accountability, transparency, and participatory governance among cooperatives in the Province of Iloilo. By enhancing the competencies of cooperative leaders and management staff, the training aims to contribute to more organized, efficient, and sustainable cooperative operations.

The Office of the Provincial Cooperative Development Officer (PCDO) successfully conducted the Basic Accounting for Non-Accountants Training, a three-day capacity-building activity designed to strengthen the financial management skills of cooperative leaders and personnel.
The training gathered cooperative general managers, treasurers, audit committee members, and bookkeepers in a collaborative learning environment aimed at enhancing their understanding of accounting principles and practices tailored specifically for cooperative operations.
Recognizing that many cooperative officers come from non-accounting backgrounds, the activity focused on simplifying key accounting concepts and translating them into practical applications. Participants were guided through the fundamentals of the accounting cycle, transaction recording, and the preparation and interpretation of financial statements such as the Statement of Financial Condition, Statement of Operations, and Statement of Cash Flows.
Through a combination of lecture-discussions, hands-on workshops, and interactive group exercises, participants were able to apply their learning in real-world cooperative scenarios. The training also emphasized the importance of transparency, internal controls, and accurate financial reporting in ensuring sound cooperative governance and compliance with regulatory standards.
The successful conduct of this training underscores PCDOโs continued commitment to empowering cooperatives by building their capacity in financial management. With enhanced knowledge and skills, cooperative leaders are better equipped to make informed decisions, uphold accountability, and contribute to the sustainable growth and integrity of their organizations.

The Province of Iloilo successfully conducted the Strategic Planning and Crafting of the Iloilo Provincial Cooperative Development Plan, bringing together key stakeholders, cooperative leaders, and development partners in a unified effort to shape a responsive and forward-looking roadmap for the provinceโs cooperative sector.
The activity aimed to align local initiatives with national development directions while addressing the unique needs and opportunities within Iloiloโs cooperative landscape. Participants actively engaged in discussions, situational analysis, and collaborative workshops designed to strengthen institutional capacity and promote inclusive growth through cooperatives.
A major highlight of the planning sessions was the presentation of the Philippine Cooperative Development Plan by the Cooperative Development Authority - Region VI, which served as a guiding framework for local adaptation. The succeeding sessions focused on refining outputs, ensuring that proposed programs and strategies are practical, measurable, and responsive to current challenges. The activity concluded with a synthesis session, reaffirming the shared commitment of all stakeholders to work together in advancing cooperative development in Iloilo.
