RISING LIVABILITY | 2,068 KGS OF TRASH CLEARED: A Massive Success for World Environment Day 2026! ๐
In celebration of World Environment Day 2026, the Iloilo City Government, through OCENRO, successfully led a massive cleanup drive that gathered more than 1,000 participants to clear a total of 2,068 Kilograms of trash from our coastal area.
The event kicked off with opening messages from DENR-VI Regional Executive Director Raul Lorilla, RPF, MBA, OCENRO Assistant Department Head Ma. Cristina Octavio, and SM City Iloilo Assistant VP for Operations Hiyasmin Isiderio. We extend our deepest gratitude to our partners, DENR-Region VI and SM City Iloilo, as well as to Breakthrough Restaurant and Coca-Cola Bottlers Inc. for generously supporting the event with venue logistics, snacks, and refreshments. We also express our sincere appreciation to the City Administrator's Office, the General Services Office, and Task Force ASIS for their vital assistance and operational support, which ensured the overall success of this event.

RISING LIVABILITY | OCENRO Participates in 2nd Quarterly Environment Committee Meeting
The Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources Officer (OCENRO) participated in the 2nd Quarterly Environment Committee Meeting on June 2, 2026. The meeting brought together various stakeholders, including DENR VI, Phinma Education Holdings, Inc., DEPDev VI, the Governor of Capiz, the Governor of Guimaras, DAR VI, DHSUD VI, EMB VI, OCD VI, PPA-PMO Panay/Guimaras, PSA RSSO VI, CGDWV, PCAP R-VI, Inc., PIEP Western Visayas, HPFPI Western Visayas, DPWH VI, DOT VI, MGB VI, and NIA VI.
The agenda covered several key items, including the Aklan River Basin Flood Risk Management, a Water Quality Problem-Solving Session, and updates on the resolution to establish vehicle dismantling and scrapping centers for end-of-life motor vehicles. Partners also discussed Salog River funding and agency actions, the operationalization of a Wildlife Rescue Center, the development of spring water sources for small-scale domestic water impounding systems, DHSUDโs presentation on open spaces and the Green, Green, Green program, and the environmental situation of the port along the Iloilo River Wharf.
This session marked the final committee meeting chaired by DENR Regional Executive Director (RED) Lorilla, who is retiring. The participating agencies and stakeholders acknowledged his leadership and service to the committee over his tenure.
