NCIP Basilan Provincial Office

LOOK: The selection of the Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) to the Sangguniang Barangay of San Rafael was successfully held on September 5, 2025, at the Barangay Hall, facilitated by NCIP Basilan in accordance with IPRA and the customary laws of the IP community.

On August 20, 2025, the NCIP Basilan Provincial Office successfully facilitated the selection of the Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) to the Sangguniang Barangay of Barangay Diki (AM) and Barangay Kaumpurnah Zone III(PM), Isabela City.

This vital activity underscores the continuing commitment to uphold the rights of Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) to representation and participation in local governance, in accordance with the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) of 1997.

The event marked another milestone in promoting inclusive governance and empowering IP communities in Basilan.

Inaanyayahan ng National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) at Commission on Elections (COMELEC) ang lahat ng interesado—lalo na ang mga miyembro ng Katutubong Pamayanan—na makibahagi sa isang webinar forum na pinamagatang “Mga Pakinabang at Hamon ng mga Katutubo sa Halalan 2025.”

Tampok sa forum na ito ang mga tagapanayam mula sa COMELEC Vulnerable Sectors Office, Legal Network for Truthful Elections (LENTE), at 2025 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections Project Management Office ng COMELEC, na tatalakay sa mga sumusunod na paksa:
- Mahahalagang punto ng Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) sa pagitan ng COMELEC at NCIP
- Mga hamon at pagkakataon para sa mga Katutubo sa proseso ng pagboto
- Paglaban sa disimpormasyon at paghahanda ng mga bulnerableng sektor para sa halalan
- KAISA Project

Maging bahagi ng usapan. Maging bahagi ng pagbabago. Tara na at alamin ang mga karapatan at responsibilidad ng mga Katutubo sa darating na halalan.

A historic Oath-Taking Ceremony for the Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representatives (IPMR) of Barangays Makiri, Panigayan, Lanote, Lukbuton, Port Area, and Baluno took place in Isabela City, reaffirming their dedication to representing and uplifting their communities.

Honored to have Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, together with NCIP Regional Director Atty. Maribel Idiang and Provincial Officer Engr. George Jocutan, leading this significant event—strengthening inclusive governance and indigenous representation.
