Basilan State College OJT Students Wrap Up 200-Hour Internship at BYC Basilan

ISABELA CITY, BASILAN — Marking a significant milestone in youth development and academe-government collaboration, the On-the-Job Training (OJT) students from Basilan State College (BaSC) have successfully completed their intensive 200-hour internship program at the Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) Basilan.

To formally close the training period and express gratitude for the mentorship provided, the BaSC internship adviser presented a Plaque of Appreciation to BYC Basilan Commissioner Hamdie Tanjil.

Receiving the award on behalf of the Commissioner were Project Development Officer Abdul Patta Asnawi and Youth Development Officer Nurhana Osamad.

During their 200 hours, the interns were immersed in grassroots youth development initiatives, program implementation, and administrative operations, gaining invaluable firsthand experience in public service and community empowerment.

The partnership highlights the shared commitment of both Basilan State College and the Bangsamoro Youth Commission to nurturing the next generation of leaders, equipping them with the professional skills and civic mindset necessary to drive positive change in the region.

Onboarding and Capacity Development for Selected Youth Volunteers of BYVP Cohort 2 Successfully Conducted in Basilan

ISABELA CITY, BASILAN — The Bangsamoro Youth Volunteer Program (BYVP) successfully conducted its “Onboarding and Capacity Development for Selected Youth Volunteers – Cohort 2” on May 14–15, 2026, at the BUP Conference Hall, Sunrise, Isabela City, Basilan, carrying the theme: “Developing Skills and Leadership among Bangsamoro Youth.”

The two-day activity gathered selected youth volunteers from different municipalities and communities across Basilan to strengthen their leadership capabilities, deepen their understanding of Bangsamoro governance, and encourage active participation in community development and volunteerism.

Serving as Guest Speaker was BM Amin Hataman, who delivered an inspiring discussion on leadership and governance. In his message, he emphasized the vital role of the youth in nation-building and encouraged the participants to become proactive leaders who can contribute positively to their communities and the Bangsamoro region.

Meanwhile, the BYC Project Development Officer Abdul Patta Asnawi facilitated several important modules focusing on Bangsamoro History, BARMM Government Structure, Leadership in Islam, Data Privacy Act, Safe Spaces Act, and Professional Ethics. These topics aimed to equip the volunteers with essential knowledge, values, and practical understanding necessary in carrying out their responsibilities as youth leaders and volunteers.

The participants also underwent a series of workshops and interactive activities designed to enhance their communication skills, teamwork, leadership potential, and critical thinking abilities.

Also present during the activity was Provincial Youth Development Officer Ms. Sitti Shaira “Choocky” Dompol, who motivated the participants to actively engage in volunteerism. She highlighted that volunteering serves as an important avenue for young people to gain meaningful experiences, develop valuable skills, and acquire knowledge that they can utilize in their future careers and professional endeavors.

The activity concluded with renewed commitment among the participants to serve their communities and become instruments of positive change in the Bangsamoro region through active leadership and volunteerism.

Comm. Hamdie I. Tanjil, together with Comm. Pratima S. Samsaraji and the Division and Unit Heads of the BYC Regional Office, attended the 7th National Summit on Government Procurement held on April 28–30, 2026, at Paradise Garden Resort Hotel & Convention Center, Boracay Island, Aklan.

The summit gathered over 700 participants nationwide, including government officials and procurement practitioners, to discuss key updates on public procurement, with a focus on Republic Act No. 12009 (New Government Procurement Act) and its implementing rules. Topics covered included procurement planning, updated procedures and documentation, governance and accountability, and practical case discussions.

The activity aimed to strengthen transparency, efficiency, and compliance in government procurement while enhancing the professional capacity of participants.

Isang makasaysayang araw ang ginanap sa Basilan matapos ang sunod na pagdaraos ng dalawang mahahalagang kaganapan na nakatuon sa pagpapaunlad ng kabataan at komunidad: ang Groundbreaking Ceremony para sa Basilan Provincial Youth Training and Development Center at ang Turnover Ceremony ng proyektong “Liwanag at Kabataan” para sa mga piling madrasah sa lalawigan.

Isinagawa ang Groundbreaking Ceremony sa Brgy. Sengal, Lamitan City para sa konstruksyon ng Basilan Provincial Youth Training and Development Center. Dinaluhan ito ng mga opisyal mula sa Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC), Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD), at iba pang katuwang na ahensya.

Sa kanyang panimulang pananalita, binigyang-diin ni BYC Basilan Commissioner Hamdie I. Tanjil ang kahalagahan ng proyektong para sa kabataang Basileño. Sinundan ito ng mensahe mula kay Bangsamoro Director General Esmael W. Ebrahim, na nagpahayag ng kahalagahan ng matibay na pananaw sa paghubog ng kinabukasan ng kabataan.

Nagpahayag din ng buong suporta si BYC Chairperson Nasserudin D. Dunding, habang tiniyak ng kinatawan mula sa 668 Construction General Engineering ang kanilang komitment sa dekalidad na implementasyon ng proyekto.

Naging tampok ng programa ang aktwal na groundbreaking ceremony, na sumisimbolo sa pagsisimula ng konstruksyon at paglalatag ng pundasyon para sa mas maliwanag na kinabukasan ng kabataan sa Basilan.

Samantala, sa parehong araw ay isinagawa rin ang Turnover Ceremony ng proyektong “Liwanag at Kabataan: Installation of Solar Street Lights to Selected Madrasah under 2024 Supplemental Fund.” Layunin ng proyekto na magbigay ng sapat na ilaw at seguridad sa mga mag-aaral at komunidad sa paligid ng mga madrasah.

Nagtapos ang programa sa isang simbolikong ribbon cutting ceremony, na sumasagisag sa pagbubukas ng bagong yugto ng liwanag at pag-asa para sa mga mag-aaral sa madrasah.

Sa kabuuan, ang dalawang kaganapang ito ay patunay ng patuloy na pagsisikap ng pamahalaang Bangsamoro at mga katuwang nitong ahensya na paunlarin ang kabataan at komunidad sa Basilan. Mula sa pagtatayo ng mga pasilidad hanggang sa pagbibigay ng mahahalagang serbisyo, malinaw ang layunin: isang mas ligtas, maliwanag, at mas maunlad na kinabukasan para sa susunod na henerasyon.
