The Department of Health โ Center for Health Development SOCCSKSARGEN (DOHโCHD XII), in close collaboration with the Provincial Health Office of Sultan Kudarat, successfully conducted the Orientation Workshop on Lymphatic Filariasis Epidemiological Monitoring Survey (EMS) for the high-burden municipalities of Sultan Kudarat. The activity was held last September 16โ19, 2025 at the Eulogia Hotel & Resort Devโt Corporation, General Santos City.
This workshop aimed to strengthen surveillance, monitoring, and evaluation strategies that are essential in sustaining the fight against Lymphatic Filariasis. The sessions provided updated technical knowledge, practical tools, and innovative approaches to further advance our collective goal of elimination.
Key discussions were led by Mr. Royfrextopher P. Boholst, Entomologist III, who presented the Regional LF Situation; Mr. Alexander Taruc, WHO NTD Consultant, who shared insights on the Global Programme to Eliminate LF by 2030; and Ms. Camille Baladjay, RN, who emphasized the importance of community engagement and advocacy in driving local action.
The workshop was further enriched by the presence and active involvement of our dedicated health leadersโDr. Gina C. Galinato, Provincial Health Officer II; Mr. Abdulrahman M. Siokon, Provincial LF Coordinator; Municipal Health Officers Dr. Marife Aruta and Dr. Ali T. Tumama; and Mr. Bernard Castino, DMO IV of PDOHO Sultan Kudarat. Their guidance and expertise ensured that the learnings will be effectively cascaded and applied in the municipal and community levels.
This milestone highlights the unwavering commitment of Sultan Kudarat in the fight against Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). With strengthened collaboration, science-based strategies, and empowered communities, we move closer to our vision of a Lymphatic Filariasis-free Sultan Kudarat and a Lymphatic Filariasis-free SOCCSKSARGEN.

2025 Dengue Awareness Month & ASEAN Dengue Day Celebration

In line with the observance of ASEAN Dengue Day and Dengue Awareness Month, the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Isulan, in collaboration with the Provincial Health Office of Sultan Kudarat, successfully held a Lay Forum/Symposium to strengthen community awareness and action against dengue.

The activity featured a Health Forum that included Provincial and Municipal updates, Dengue Epidemiology and trends, and โWhat to Do? When to Refer, When to Bring to the RHU / Hospitalโ. A crucial session that guided Barangay Officials on recognizing warning signs, knowing when to seek medical help, and preventing severe dengue cases.
Through continued education, vigilance, and community action, we aim for ZERO dengue deaths in Sultan Kudarat! ๐ช

The Integrated Provincial Health Office of Cotabato Province has received information from the DOH-CHD SOCCSKSARGEN confirming one (1) case of monkeypox, Clade 2, today, April 25, 2025.
The patient is a 30-year-old male from the Municipality of Tulunan, Cotabato Province. The patient has been informed since detection and is currently stable and isolated. The patient sought early consultation and has been cooperative with the local health officeโs contact tracing initiatives. All close contacts identified have been traced and quarantined. None of the close contacts are showing any signs or symptoms of the disease. The Provincial and Municipal Health Offices charged with the care of the patient are currently on alert and has exhausted all public health measures to ensure that the spread of this disease is controlled and to prevent further spread of the disease.
The public are advised to remain calm and vigilant. Keep yourself informed on the preventive procedures for avoiding infectious diseases such as Monkey Pox.
What is Monkeypox? What is Clade 2?
1. Mpox is a viral illness caused by the monkeypox virus. A global outbreak of Clade 2 began in 2022 and continues to this day. Clade 2 mpox is considered less severe than clade 1 mpox and than 99% of people survive their infection
What are the signs and symptoms to watch out for?
1. Fever followed by Skin rash or mucosal lesions that look like blisters or raised firm lesions 1-3 days after, it may present on face, palms and soles of the feet
2. Swollen lymph nodes or sore throat
3. Muscle aches and back pain
4. Headache and low energy
How is Mpox Spread?
1. Through person-to-person transmission through direct contact with skin or mucosal lesions (talking or breathing, kissing, touching, hugging, or sexual in*******se, and/or through respiratory secretions)
2. Indirect contact with contaminated bedding, clothing, or linens or other objects
What can I do to avoid monkey pox?
1. Observe respiratory etiquette such as covering your mouth and noses when coughing or sneezing
2. Use masks when going out in a crowded public space and when experiencing respiratory signs and symptoms such as coughing and sneezing and runny nose
3. Ensure good airflow
4. Wash hands frequently with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer
5. Refrain from contact with individuals who have signs and symptoms

On-Site Mentoring on Dengue Vector Surveillance for Rural Health Midwives
March 19-20, 2025
Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.
This afternoon, as part of Day 1 of the On-Site Mentoring on Dengue Vector Surveillance for Rural Health Midwives. The participants actively engaged in โKiti-Kiti Huntingโ, Dengue Vector Surveillance fieldwork at Brgy. Poblacion II, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat, identifying and eliminating mosquito breeding sites to help prevent dengue transmission.
While carrying out the activity, they also took the opportunity to educate homeowners about "Alas Kwatro Kontra Mosquito", emphasizing the importance of daily 4 PM clean-up habits to disrupt mosquito breeding and reduce the risk of dengue.
