The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lambunao will officially begin issuing citation tickets to individuals caught smoking or va**ng in public areas as well as non-compliant business owners starting Sunday, October 18, 2026.
This timeline was finalized during a coordination meeting today, October 15, at the Lambunao Primary Care Facility, which brought together active members of the Smoke-Free and Vape-Free Task Force.
During the meeting, Sangguniang Bayan Member Carl Clint J. Lingaya, Chairman of the Committee on Health and Sanitation, detailed the technical handling of the citation tickets and outlined the strict legal processes governing field enforcement.
On-the-ground enforcement will heavily target high-traffic public spaces, including the public market, public plaza, parking areas, commercial hubs, and areas near schools or healthcare facilities.
The upcoming ticketing phase marks a major operational shift under Municipal Ordinance No. 17-012, or the Comprehensive Smoke-Free Ordinance of the Municipality of Lambunao, Iloilo.
To gauge community compliance, the team has already conducted four rounds of surprise inspections across the town since August.
Under the ordinance, violators will face progressive fines ranging from โฑ500 for a first offense up to โฑ3,000 for subsequent infractions, or equivalent community service and legal sanctions.
With strict field enforcement launching this weekend, the LGU strongly urges all residents, business operators, and visitors to comply with the law to avoid penalties and foster a healthier, smoke-free Lambunao.
