𝗧𝗔𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗕𝗔𝗡 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬, 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀, 20 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 2026 – The 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝 (𝐌𝐒𝐒𝐂) – 𝐄𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞, through the Maritime Safety Services Unit – Eastern Visayas (MSSU-EV), together with Live Christ Share Christ Movement (LCSCM), conducted Values Formation Activity held at MSSU-EV Office, Tacloban City.

The activity aimed to strengthen personnel's moral and spiritual values by fostering integrity, discipline, respect, unity, and a deeper commitment to public service. It allowed participants to reflect on the importance of upholding strong personal and professional values in carrying out their duties and responsibilities.

Through the collaboration of the Ecumenical Chaplain Service and the Live Christ Share Christ Movement, the activity highlighted the importance of faith, ethical conduct, and service-oriented leadership in building a harmonious, values-driven workplace.

This activity reflects the MSSC’s continuing commitment, through MSSU-EV, to the holistic development of its personnel by nurturing not only professional competence but also moral character and spiritual well-being.

Through this initiative, MSSU-EV reaffirms its commitment to cultivating a culture of excellence, accountability, and service that supports its mission to promote maritime safety and serve the community.

15 𝐎𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐁𝐄𝐑 2026 | 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐆𝐍 (𝐂𝐈𝐂) 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐍 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐄 𝐒𝐀𝐅𝐄𝐓𝐘.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: The Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas (CGDEV), through its Maritime Safety Services Unit – Eastern Visayas (MSSU-EV), conducted a Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) Training on Fire Safety via Zoom Teleconference on 15 October 2026.

The training was attended by Coast Guard Station Commanders and personnel and Pre-Boarding Teams from Coast Guard Sub-Stations across Eastern Visayas. It aimed to strengthen personnel's knowledge, competence, and operational readiness in conducting fire safety inspections, with emphasis on ensuring compliance with applicable maritime safety standards, regulations, and fire prevention requirements.

The activity was led by the Commander, MSSU-EV, 𝐋𝐓𝐉𝐆 𝐉𝐎𝐇𝐍 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐎 𝐂 𝐁𝐔𝐀𝐋 𝐏𝐂𝐆, and the Deputy Commander, MSSU-EV, 𝐋𝐓𝐉𝐆 𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐓𝐇 𝐋 𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐂𝐆, with 𝐏𝐎3 𝐑𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐑 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐳𝐚 𝐏𝐂𝐆 sharing his technical expertise and contributing to the discussions. 𝘗𝘖3 𝘔𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘻𝘢 𝘗𝘊𝘎 emphasized the importance of consistent and effective implementation of fire safety inspection procedures in preventing and mitigating fire-related incidents involving domestic vessels.

Through this initiative, MSSU-EV seeks to ensure a common understanding of fire safety inspection procedures and requirements among station personnel, thereby strengthening the Coast Guard's capability to identify fire hazards, enforce applicable safety regulations, and promote preventive measures that protect passengers, crew, vessels, and cargo.

This activity underscores the continuing commitment of CGDEV and MSSU-EV to the directives of the Commandant, Philippine Coast Guard (CPCG), and to the promotion of maritime safety, the prevention of fire-related incidents, and the protection of lives and property in Eastern Visayas waters.

𝗧𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 — The Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas (CGDEV) recognized the exemplary performance, dedication, and commitment to public service of its outstanding units and personnel during its anniversary celebration held on 12 October 2026 at Radiant Hotel and Events, Tacloban City.

As part of the celebration, CGDEV awarded the 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 (𝗢𝗣𝗖𝗢𝗡) 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀, recognizing individuals and units whose exceptional contributions reflect the Philippine Coast Guard’s commitment to excellence, professionalism, and service to the Filipino people.

The 𝐎𝐏𝐂𝐎𝐍 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 recognized 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭 - 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐬 for its outstanding operational performance, effective coordination, and dedication to carrying out its assigned missions. The unit’s accomplishments underscore the importance of operational readiness and maritime safety within the district’s area of responsibility.

Meanwhile, the 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 was presented to 𝗟𝗧𝗝𝗚 𝗝𝗢𝗛𝗡 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗢 𝗖 𝗕𝗨𝗔𝗟 𝗣𝗖𝗚 in recognition of exemplary leadership, professionalism, initiative, and dedication to duty. The award highlights the vital role of young Coast Guard Officers in strengthening organizational effectiveness and upholding the highest standards of integrity and service.

The 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 was awarded to 𝗟𝗞1 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘀 𝗦 𝗚𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻 for demonstrating outstanding commitment to maintaining the operational readiness and reliability of lighthouse facilities. Through diligent monitoring, maintenance, and upkeep of navigational aids, the awardee contributes significantly to the safety of vessels and the protection of lives at sea.

The recognition of these outstanding achievements forms part of CGDEV’s anniversary celebration, which not only commemorates the district’s service and accomplishments but also honors the people whose dedication sustains its mission. These awards serve as a testament to the professionalism, discipline, and commitment demonstrated by Coast Guard personnel in fulfilling their respective responsibilities.

Through this recognition, MSSU-EV continues to inspire its personnel to pursue excellence, strengthen operational capabilities, and remain steadfast in their commitment to safeguarding lives and ensuring safe and secure maritime operations throughout Eastern Visayas.

𝙇𝙊𝙊𝙆: The Recreational Safety Center – Eastern Visayas headed by their Acting OIC, 𝗘𝗡𝗦 𝗘𝗟𝗢𝗜𝗦𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗘 𝗛 𝗣𝗨𝗟𝗜𝗗𝗢 𝗣𝗖𝗚, in support and coordination with Coast Guard Station - Western Leyte and Coast Guard Sub-station - Palompon, conducted a 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 for coastal beach resort owners and recreational vessel operators in Palompon and Kalanggaman Island, Leyte, to promote safety awareness and strengthen compliance with established maritime recreational safety standards.

As part of the activity, the team rendered courtesy calls to Coast Guard Station - Western Leyte and Coast Guard Sub-Station - Palompon, as well as to the Office of the Municipal Mayor and the Tourism Office of Palompon, to foster coordination and strengthen partnerships in advancing maritime recreational safety.

During the information drive, the team discussed essential maritime recreational safety policies and guidelines, particularly 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗺 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝟬𝟮-𝟭𝟰 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟬𝟯-𝟭𝟰, which are guidelines for the safety and security requirements of Coastal Beach Resorts, operation of Recreational Watercrafts and qualifications and requirements of Lifeguards, emphasizing the importance of compliance with prescribed safety measures, responsible recreational activities, the protection of beachgoers, tourists, and other maritime stakeholders.

Through this initiative, the Philippine Coast Guard, through the Recreational Safety Center – Eastern Visayas, reaffirms its commitment to promoting a culture of safety, strengthening stakeholder cooperation, and ensuring safer and more responsible maritime recreational activities throughout Eastern Visayas.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: Personnel from the Maritime Safety Services Unit - Eastern Visayas (MSSU-EV), led by 𝐄𝐍𝐒 𝐉𝐄𝐅𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐘 𝐕 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐍 𝐏𝐂𝐆, conducted Pre-Departure Inspection (PDI) training at 𝐂𝐎𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐆𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐃 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐍 𝐋𝐄𝐘𝐓𝐄 from 28 September to 2 October 2026.

The five-day training aimed to strengthen the skills of Coast Guard personnel in verifying that vessels are seaworthy and compliant with maritime safety regulations before departure.

Pre-departure inspection is a key measure in preventing maritime incidents, especially in the Area of Responsibility (AoR) of Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas, where thousands of passengers rely on ferries and motorized bancas for daily travel between islands.

The MSSU-EV remains committed to safeguarding lives at sea and promoting safe voyages.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦: 𝐓𝐀𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐁𝐀𝐍 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘, 01 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 2026 – The 𝘗𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭 𝘊𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 (𝘗𝘚𝘊𝘊) - 𝘌𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘝𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘴, through the 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘚𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘵 - 𝘌𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘝𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘴 (𝘔𝘚𝘚𝘜-𝘌𝘝), conducted a Port State Control (PSC) Inspection of the foreign-flagged vessel 𝑴𝑽 𝑨𝒁𝑼𝑹𝑬 𝑫𝑶𝑳𝑷𝑯𝑰𝑵𝑬 at Tacloban Port.

The PSCC team inspected the vessel to verify its documents and seaworthiness. PSC inspections of foreign vessels at Philippine ports confirm compliance with international standards for safety, security, environmental protection, and crew welfare.

The PSCC-EV, through the MSSU-EV, will continue to ensure the safety of life at sea and the marine environment. Likewise, PSSC- EV ensures compliant vessels operate in Philippine waters.
