The LGU-Liloan proudly celebrates Rabies Awareness Month with the theme, "Rabies-Free na Pusa't A*o, Kaligtasan ng Pamilyang Filipino." The event was led by our very supportive Municipal Mayor, Hon. Jonna C. Adan, alongside Municipal Vice Mayor, Hon. Shirlita Y. Chong, and all the SB Members. The activity, which included dog castration and vaccination, was conducted in coordination with the Provincial Veterinary Services Office. LGU-Liloan extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Provincial Veterinary Services Office, led by Francisco Cabarrubias, DVM, our Provincial Veterinarian, and to Joel Mondala, DVM, for leading the team and ensuring the success of the activity. This initiative focuses on promoting a rabies-free community through activities such as dog castration and vaccination. The aim is to make the Municipality of Liloan a rabies-free area, ensuring the safety and health of both animals and humans in the community. This effort reflects the LGU's commitment to public health and responsible pet ownership.

The establishment of the seaweed nursery farming at Sitio Tagbak, Tabugon, Liloan, Southern Leyte marks a significant milestone in our commitment to improving the livelihood of our local fisherfolk. This initiative was made possible through the unwavering support of our Municipal Mayor, Hon. Jonna C. Adan, Vice Mayor Hon. Shirlita Y. Chong, and the entire Sangguniang Bayan members. Their dedication to the welfare of our community has been instrumental in bringing this project to life.

We are also deeply grateful to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR-8), led by Director Dominador Maputol, for their hands-on involvement, including a personal visit to the site for validation. Additionally, the collaboration with the Provincial Fishery Office, who contributed valuable inputs and manpower, has been essential to the project's success.

This seaweed nursery farming will provide a sustainable and promising livelihood opportunity for our fisherfolk, both individual and organized into associations. It aims to support and empower them in engaging in seaweed farming, ensuring long-term benefits for the community. Together, we are cultivating a future where our fisherfolk thrive, and our local economy flourishes.

The livelihood program initiated by the local government of Liloan aims to support tilapia growers by distributing tilapia fingerlings and feeds. This initiative helps promote sustainable aquaculture practices, improves local fish production, and supports the livelihood of small-scale farmers and fishermen in the area. The program provides vital resources to help these growers start or improve their tilapia farming ventures, contributing to food security and economic development in the community.
