LOOK | DILG TO LGUs: CUT ENERGY USE, SHIFT TO 4-DAY ONSITE WORK

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), through Memorandum Circular No. 2026-023, is urging all Local Government Units (LGUs) to adopt energy conservation measures in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The directive pushes LGUs to immediately implement practical steps to reduce power consumption and optimize government resources, including:

⚡ 24°C standard for air-conditioning
⚡ Virtual meetings for coordination
⚡ Limited official travel to essential functions
⚡ Improved fuel and fleet efficiency
⚡ Reduced elevator use, when practicable
⚡ Adoption of a four-day onsite work arrangement
⚡ Full rollout of the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP)

The DILG said the move comes amid ongoing geopolitical tensions, stressing the need for government to lead in conserving energy and ensuring efficient use of public funds.

GAD BULLETIN | Long before formal institutions and codified laws, a powerful figure stood at the heart of every Filipino community: the Babaylan.

In pre-colonial Philippines, the Babaylan were leaders who played vital roles in their communities. Though colonial rule diminished the visible leadership of women, the spirit of the Babaylan endured.

In celebration of the 2026 National Women’s Month, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) joins the nation in honoring the enduring strength, leadership, and wisdom of Filipino women.
