With the invitation from Cabansal M. Larry IP School (CMLIPS), the Municipal Gender and Development Focal Point System (MGADFPS) delivered lectures on Gender and Development (GAD) concepts for its parents and teachers as part of their Seminar on Gender and S*xuality, Gender Awareness and Gender-Fair Education last September 8, 2026.
Through the school's GAD Coordinator, Ms. Rosielyn C. Sasil, members of the MGADFPS enlightened the participants on matters that are relevant in understanding the core concepts of GAD as well as in the promotion of an inclusive and gender-fair learning environment and living community among parents, teachers, and students.
In her Statement of Purpose, Ms. Sasil emphasized the importance of the parents' presence in the one-day activity - highlighting that participating in activities like this allows for improved awareness and understanding of different gender issues.
The same message was echoed by Mr. Adrian Ladres, the school's Officer-In-Charge, in his Welcome Remarks. According to Mr. Ladres, seminars offer an avenue for learning that further capacitates the participants on matters that are relevant in their everyday lives.
Throughout the one-day seminar, the participants were introduced to Gender Sensitivity; S*xual Orientation, Gender Identity, Expression, and S*x Characteristics (SOGIESC), Gender Biases, Gender Stereotypes, and Gender-Fair Education through MGADFPS Technical Staff, Mr. Aldrinn S. Orbita and Ms. Lovely Jane Matuguina, respectively.
Afterwards, the participants discussed several gender biases and issues that are present in their homes and in school and identified goals and mechanisms as to how these could be resolved in a workshop facilitated by the faculty and the resource persons.
