International Day of UN Peacekeepers
On Friday, 29 May 2026, I had the honor of leading the Department of Foreign Affairs’ commemoration of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, recognizing the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the men and women who serve in UN peace operations around the world.
The Philippines remains steadfast in its support for the United Nations and its peacekeeping efforts, reflecting our enduring commitment to international peace, security, and multilateral cooperation. Through the service of Filipino peacekeepers, police personnel, military officers, and civilian experts, our country continues to contribute to protecting vulnerable communities and promoting stability in conflict-affected areas.
This observance also reflects President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s assurance that the Philippines will remain a voice of service and principled peace in the international community. As we honor our peacekeepers, we reaffirm our belief that dialogue, cooperation, respect for international law, and collective action remain essential foundations for a more peaceful and secure world.
To all Filipino peacekeepers, past and present, thank you for your service and for bringing honor to our nation through your commitment to peace and humanity.

PH Government Safely Brings Home 78 Distressed Filipinos from Myanmar
MANILA 10 May 2026 – The Philippine Government repatriated 78 Filipinos from Myanmar, all alleged human trafficking victims, through a coordinated inter-agency operation under the One-Country-Team Approach (OCTA).
The repatriates arrived in Manila from Yangon via Bangkok on 9 and 10 May 2026 which included 77 pardoned Filipinos in Hpa-An, Kayin State, convicted for immigration violations, and one from Tachileik, Shan State.
The DFA, DMW, and representatives from other agencies provided support during the repatriates' arrival at NAIA.
The Philippine Embassies in Yangon and Bangkok, in coordination with the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) - Bangkok and partner agencies, managed documentation, travel, and coordination with Myanmar authorities to ensure a safe return to the Philippines.
The DFA reminds the public that the deployment ban to Myanmar remains in effect and urges the use of only legal recruitment channels to avoid penalties and trafficking risks. END
