Guided by the theme Sustaining Our Seas, Securing Our Future,โ the activity highlighted the Commandโs steadfast commitment not only to marine environmental protection but also to humanitarian service and community welfare.
This meaningful initiative was made possible through the collaboration efforts of the Coast Guard Medical Team led by ๐๐ง๐๐ ๐๐ญ๐๐ฅ๐๐ก๐ ๐ ๐๐ ๐ ๐๐จ๐๐ก-๐๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ข ๐ฃ๐๐, in partnership with the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital Department of Pathology and Laboratories, headed by ๐๐ฟ. The activity brought together MEPCOM personnel who willingly supported the noble cause of saving lives through blood donation.
The blood-letting activity served as an avenue to promote voluntarism, compassion, and social responsibility among Coast Guard personnel. It also emphasized the importance of maintaining an adequate blood supply for patients requiring emergency medical assistance, surgeries, and other life-saving treatments.
The activity collected a total of 28 bags of blood, reflecting the generosity and solidarity of all participating donors. Each bag of blood represents another chance at life for patients in need, further demonstrating the spirit of public service among MEPCOM personnel.
As part of MEPCOMโs 28th Founding Anniversary, the activity embodied the Commandโs dedication to nation-building, humanitarian assistance, and service beyond marine environmental protection. Through initiatives such as this, MEPCOM continues to strengthen its role as a representative and people-centered unit of the Philippine Coast Guard committed to safeguarding both the marine environment and the welfare of the Filipino people.
Anchored on the theme, Sustaining Our Seas, Securing Our Future,โ the Command remains steadfast in advancing environmental stewardship, operational excellence, and humanitarian initiatives in support of a safer and more resilient maritime nation.

The meeting served as a platform for the exchange of information, insights, and experiences concerning the growing environmental challenges posed by ALDFG, which continue to threaten marine biodiversity, coastal ecosystems, fisheries resources, and maritime safety within the region. Participants discussed prevailing issues encountered by ASEAN countries and highlighted best practices and successful initiatives currently being implemented to mitigate marine debris and ghost fishing impacts.
Present during the engagement were Director of the Marine Environmental Protection Regulatory Compliance and Governance Service (MEPRCGS), and Commander of the Marine Science Forensics Investigation Service (MSFIS). The meeting also explored potential areas of cooperation among ASEAN nations, particularly in strengthening monitoring mechanisms, improving waste management systems, and encouraging stakeholder participation from government agencies, local communities, and the private sector.
Moreover, the meeting identified actionable steps to address ALDFG, including the formulation of policy recommendations, capacity-building activities, public awareness campaigns, and the implementation of on-ground interventions aimed at preventing and reducing marine litter caused by fishing gear and other pollutants. These initiatives are expected to support broader marine environmental protection efforts and contribute to the promotion of a sustainable Blue Economy within the region.
As part of the MEPCOM AHEAD initiative under the pillar of MEPCOM advances its efforts in protecting the countryโs marine environment through continued collaboration with international organizations and regional stakeholders.
