The speaker, Dr. Janssen Kotah, is a DOST Balik Scientist Awardee hosted by the National Institutes of Health, UP Manila. Dr. Kotah is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Molecular Neurobiology Group University Medical Center Groningen, Netherlands. He will be sharing his experiences as a DOST Balik Scientist and talk about opportunities in Neuroscience in the Philippines.

The National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (NIMBB) had its fourth run of its 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝘂𝘀 𝗜𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗕𝗖𝗖𝗩𝗜) last December 3-5, 2025 at the College of Public Health Annex II Building and National Institutes of Health Building, University of the Philippines Manila.

Intending to equip researchers with basic skills for emerging techniques in public health and animal health, the training entailed various lectures and hands-on laboratory experiments on culturing mammalian cells and isolating viruses.

It is with great pleasure that we extend an invitation to interested participants to the 13th run of the UP National Institutes of Health (UP-NIH) Neuroscience Seminar Series – a first of its kind and provides a unique opportunity to engage and introduce in the different fields of neuroscience from expert neuroscientists around the globe. Quirk, Senior Scientist at the Behavioral Neuroscience Laboratory, UP-NIH and recipient of the 2025 Julius Axelrod Prize in Neuropharmacology and Mentoring from the U.S. Society for Neuroscience, a distinction endowed by the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation, which honors a scientist with distinguished achievements in the broad field of neuropharmacology (or a related area) and exemplary efforts in mentoring early career scientists.
