SINAS: DISMISSAL FOR COPS WHO FAIL DRUG TEST

PNP Chief Police General Debold M Sinas reminded cops that those found to be drug users will be summarily dismissed from the service.

“I was informed that a police officer from Police Regional Office-13 tested positive for drug use during random drug testing early this week in Butuan City.”

Sinas ordered to expedite the pre-charge investigation and initiate summary dismissal proceedings against the drug-using cop.

The unannounced drug test was administered to personnel stationed at the PRO-13 Regional Headquarters in Camp Col. Rafael Rodriguez by PCPT Cindy V Mahilig, Chief Chemist of Regional Crime Laboratory Office 13 last January 5, 2021.

Out of 332 personnel tested, PCpl John Rey Ibasco, assigned with the Regional Logistics and Research Development Division 13 (RLRRDD-13) yielded positive result for drug use after confirmatory tests.

Sinas said, “I have ordered to expand random drug testing to all police personnel to rid the organization of drug-using cops. There is no place in the PNP for them.”

PRO-13 Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Romeo M Caramat Jr. ordered a mandatory drug test to 332 PNP personnel assigned at PRO-13 headquarters.

PBGen Caramat immediately directed the head of RLRDD to disarm and place PCpl Ibasco under restrictive custody and ensure his availability to face further investigation for his subsequent dismissal from the service.

SINAS : PNP CRACKS DOWN ON PARTY DRUGS, PARCEL FROM NETHERLANDS YIELDS 535 TABLETS

A shipment of 535 tablets of Ecstacy party drugs earlier confiscated by the Bureau of Customs was turned over to NAIA-Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) on Friday.

In a report to PNP Chief, Police General Debold M Sinas, Brigadier General Ronald Lee, Director of PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) said the seized drugs estimated to be worth P1-million was intercepted earlier by Bureau of Customs personnel concealed in an air parcel at Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) after a thorough examination of the air parcel originating from the Netherlands and declared as documents.

A subsequent laboratory test conducted by the PDEA confirmed the tablets as methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (M**A) or Ecsatacy. A popular synthetic party drug, Lee said

He said the seized contraband was further turned over to PDEA for further investigation and possible prosecution of individuals involved in the illegal importation for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA No. 9165) and Section 1401 Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA No. 10863).

"The crackdown on illegal drugs targets shabu, ma*****na and so-called party drugs like ecstacy. The PNP is fully aware of how resourceful these narco-syndicates have become, but make no mistake. We will go after you.” Sinas warned.

The official turnover was witnessed by representatives of NAIA-IADITG member agencies composed of PDEA, PNP DEG, PNP AVSEGRP, NBI, BOC, BI, and MIAA/APD.

A few days ago, PNP-DEG seized 2,800 Ectacy pills during a series of operations in Cainta, Rizal and Ermita, Manila
