We are inviting journalists, student or otherwise to join the Walkthrough on July 26, 2022.

The activity is organized by civil society organizations Advocates of Inclusion, Move As One Coalition, and Metro Naga Active Transport Community in line with the observance of the 44th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week on July 17 to 23, 2022.

PWD representatives will lead participants — such as local officials, community organizers, and the media — in an experiential and documented “walkthrough” from home to school, COMELEC, and city hall.

The fee will cover all 3 sessions to be done on Saturday evenings (6:00pm-7:30pm). There is a FREE one-on-one coaching/mentoring session if you will submit a manuscript of your story.

All participants who join and attend the sessions will receive a digital Certificate of Participation.

Participants will also get a second Certificate of Completion upon submitting a manuscript of a short story for children and undergo a coaching/mentoring session.

Once finalized, the stories get the chance to be considered for publication in a forthcoming book, an anthology of short stories for children, to be published this 2022. The editor will contact the authors of the chosen stories. All stories submitted from previous batches will be considered.

THE PRESIDENT LIED. President Rodrigo Duterte allegedly ‘melted down’ on his latest address to the nation and blatantly lied accusing Vice President Leni Robredo that she is “incapable of truth” and that, she claims that he is missing in action as distresses the nation.

VP Leni has not. Our team has not found a single tweet, a recording, or footage at least of the VP stating this claim. These accusations are further belied by Rappler, a signatory of the International Fact-checking Network and ABS-CBN.

The feature writing contest is open to all interested high school and college students and cash prizes of PHP 3,000, 2000, and 1,000 will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placers respectively. FLC Francis Chiz Escudero AΦB 1990 is the incumbent Governor of the Province of Sorsogon and a former Philippine Senator from 2007 to 2019. He also served as the representative of the 1st District of Sorsogon from 1998 to 2007 becoming the House Minority Leader from 2004-2007.

He is joined by Love Marie Escudero famously known as Heart Evangelista, a Filipina actress, social media influencer, and the current first lady of the Province of Sorsogon.

The Ditto Sarmiento Journalism Cup will hold a press conference with UP Men's Basketball Team Head Coach Bo Perasol and Team Captain Noah Gabriel A. Webb. They will share their assessment of their UAAP Season 82 performance, and updates on their preparations for Season 83. This press conference will be the basis of the output for sports writing of the Ditto Sarmiento Nationwide Search for Ten Outstanding Young Journalists.

This event will be conducted on October 17, at 1 P.M. via Zoom and will be live-streamed via Facebook Live.

Coach Dolreich "Bo" Perasol AΦB 1989C is a former King Maroon, who donned the Maroon from 1990-1994. Coach Bo has been the team's head coach since 2016. Since Coach Bo took over the reins, the Fighting Maroons have shown growth and progress that looks promising as the team continues to bring UP back to UAAP Basketball glory. Since 2016, Coach Bo and the team have shown that there is indeed nowhere to go but up. The past four seasons have brought unprecedented achievements that will forever be part of the Fighting Maroons' history.

The press conference will be moderated by Kristoffer Ed Bellen, sports journalist and tennis correspondent for Dugout Philippines. Kristoffer is the founder of Wired Interactive Network for Sports, the Official Sports Arm of Assortedge.

Jonathan E. Malaya AΦB 1993 is the current Undersecretary for Plans, Public Affairs and Communication of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). During Usec. Malaya's undergraduate studies, he was a writer for the Philippine Collegian in UP Diliman. He is also a founding member and president of the UP Debate Society, and he has earned several Best Debater Awards in prestigious national and international debate competitions. He previously served as assistant secretary of the Department of Education and the Office of the President, and assistant secretary and spokesperson of the DILG before assuming his current post as undersecretary.

The press conference will be moderated by Ms. Hanna Acoyong of the UP Community Broadcasters’ Society and host of the UPLB Gandingan Awards 2020.
