𝗧𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲.

Today we celebrate the teachers who shape minds, inspire dreams, and carry the future of our nation. We celebrate the teachers who continue to move learning forward despite systemic neglect.

Teachers in the Philippines continue to bear the weight of an underfunded, overburdened, and undervalued education system. They work beyond hours, yet still struggle to meet basic needs. They face delayed benefits, insufficient health support, and rising costs that outpace their stagnant wages.

To celebrate them is to fight alongside them so we, Proxima, honors their commitment not only with gratitude but with the recognition that true respect means justice: fair pay, secure benefits, adequate support, and classrooms that allow them to teach and prosper. Teaching is nation-building, and those who build the nation deserve to be valued.

Proxima UPCD’s STATEMENT ON MARTIAL LAW 53

We commemorate both the cruelty of a dictatorship and the tenacity of a people who refused to be silenced 53 years after the imposition of martial law. A systematic assault on democracy, human dignity, and the future of the country, Martial Law was more than just a "moment in history." Its scars remain visible today in the form of corruption, impunity, and the deliberate distortion of truth.

As students and future professionals, we cannot detach ourselves from this history. The plunder of public funds that once deprived Filipinos of hospitals, schools, and opportunities is the same corruption that continues today, leaving our institutions underfunded, our communities neglected, and our people suffering. The imprisonment, torture, and killings of Martial Law’s victims echo in the continuing attacks on activists, journalists, and ordinary citizens who dare to speak out.

The same forces that made dictatorship possible are still in place: those who use public resources for their own benefit, those who use fear as a weapon to quell dissent, and those who manipulate history to cover up their wrongdoings. The struggle against these forces did not end with the lifting of Martial Law; it persists in every call for accountability, transparency, and justice.

We remember, oppose, and carry on the fight started by our predecessors on this 53rd anniversary of the declaration of martial law. Proxima UPCD demands justice from the Marcoses, Dutertes, and the rest of the faces who continue to manipulate and abuse us, for their corruption and the violence they inflicted on the Filipino people.
