Empowerment is not optional it is a mission requirement. When we limit the potential of our female in the uniformed service, we create a form of dead reckoning in our own progress. We lose critical perspectives needed to solve complex legal challenges and to sustain the morale and effectiveness of our force.

As Chief Master-at-Arms, my message is clear:
Support is non-negotiable. Mentorship must be deliberate, consistent, and meaningful.
Barriers are meant to be broken. If policies or attitudes hinder the advancement of capable women, it is our responsibility to challenge and correct them.
Accountability is essential. We must foster an environment where every member feels safe, respected, and heard without exception.

This is not just about fairness; it is about strengthening our mission, our people, and our future.

As babaylan and personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard, recognizing every individual’s ability, voice, and vital role in shaping society is a great honor. This affirms the significant contribution of women in our society. Providing equal opportunities in education, leadership, and livelihood leads to a stronger and more progressive community. Continues support, respect, and fair treatment should not only come from fellow women, but from society as a whole.

In the spirit of “WE” in the theme “WE for Gender Equality and a Inclusive Society,” advancing gender equality is a collective responsibility. It is not a battle of one gender against another, but a united effort to end discrimination and promote an inclusive society. When we empower women, we strengthen families, organizations, and the entire nation.

Because we are not just women, we are leaders, public servants, advocates of change, and partners in building a just and equal society.

“Babae ka, hindi babae lang.” This phrase is frequently seen on poster and social media post today. It serves as a powerful reminder that a woman is capable of achieving anything she sets her mind to. Gone are the days where women were boxed within the four corners of their homes, stripped of their rights, and dismissed as “babae lang.” Women are more than that. We are now seen on the battlefield, in the government, and in any space, we choose to occupy. Despite the noise of those trying to pull women down, we continue to fight and conquer. True gender equality can be achieved if we move as one, as society and as a whole country. Because a truly progressive society is one that values, treats, and respects women as human beings, and not as individual’s inferior to others.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: Representatives of the 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 (𝐎𝐒𝐆) and 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝 (𝐏𝐂𝐆) conducted the formal turnover of filed court pleadings and official receiving copies in connection with the 𝑴𝑻 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 case ensuring that government records are complete, properly documented, and aligned for coordinated legal action.

The filing was completed prior to the 𝟐𝟖 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔-time bar, safeguarding the Philippine Coast Guard’s right to pursue recovery of claims amounting to a little over 𝐏𝐇𝐏 𝟐𝟔𝟖 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 arising from the incident. The case was filed against the shipowner (𝐑𝐃𝐂 𝐑𝐞𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐈𝐧𝐜.), the insurer, and the 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐢𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐈𝐎𝐏𝐂) 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬, in furtherance of accountability and the protection of the national interest.

As a mother in the uniform service who was blessed with a child after nearly seven years of waiting, I’ve learned that strength comes in many forms. Wearing the uniform while quietly carrying the weight of longing and uncertainty shaped me into a stronger, more compassionate woman. It reminded me that every woman’s oath is unique and each one deserves understanding and respect.

This National Women’s Month, I celebrate the courage of women who serve, lead, nurture, and persevere in their own battles. Gender equality starts in our daily actions such as choosing empathy, showing respect, and standing up for inclusivity.

As a Soldier and a mother, I am committed to raising my child in a world where everyone is valued, heard, and given equal opportunity.
