Last Friday's Visit and Brief Interview by 3rd Year Bachelor of Science in Environmental Planning (BS Environmental Planning) Students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (Official) with regards to their study entitled “Transfer of Development Rights as a Land Use Management Strategy for Flood Mitigation: The Case of Marikina City’s Open Spaces.”
Their research examines the potential of Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) as a land use management strategy to support flood mitigation in Marikina City. Specifically, it seeks to explore how TDR may be utilized to protect and maintain flood-prone areas as open spaces—thereby enhancing their role in water retention and risk reduction—while redirecting urban development toward safer and more suitable locations. As part of their methodology, they are conducting Key Informant Interviews (KII) with professionals whose expertise can provide practical insights into planning and implementation.
