In the Majukayong Tribe, we believe that a child may leave the village alone, but never journeys alone.

Before a young person leaves to pursue a dream, the community performs Parubwat, where a chicken is butchered as they seek the blessing and guidance of Kavunyen for the journey ahead. It is a collective prayer for success and a safe return.

As the child journeys beyond the village, the community remains behindโ€”praying, encouraging, and offering support whenever possible. For in Majukayong, raising a child is a shared responsibility.

When that child returns home successfulโ€”as a teacher, lawyer, engineer, or professionalโ€”the community gathers for Paranus, a thanksgiving for the achievement.

The success may bear the name of one individual, but the celebration belongs to everyone.

Parubwat sends the child forth with the communityโ€™s blessing.

Paranus welcomes the child home with the communityโ€™s thanksgiving.

For when the village helps raise one child, the child carries the village with them. And when that child succeeds, the whole village celebrates.

The Saliok school community stepped up preparations for the Municipal Athletic Meet on Friday through a planning meeting with parents of athletes and cultural dancers in September 2 and a coordination meeting with barangay officials and the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Saliok on August 31.

School Principal Noreen F. Dangangao facilitated the meeting with parents, where the names of 49 athletes who will represent the school were presented.

Coaches of different events discussed their preparations and concerns, particularly in swimming, track and field, chess, volleyball, and badminton. The schedule of activities for the municipal meet, including the meeting place, departure time, and other logistical arrangements, was also presented to parents.

Parents were assigned roles in cooking and chaperoning the athletes during the two-night stay, while agreements were made to ensure the learnersโ€™ safety, welfare, and support throughout the competition.

The school also held a coordination meeting with barangay officials, SK Saliok and PTA officers on Monday, who committed to shoulder the meals and transportation of the athletes. Parents and school personnel will collaborate in carrying out the assigned responsibilities to ensure an organized and well-supported participation in the meet.

The school emphasized that the presence, participation, and support of parents and community partners are vital to the success of school activities, particularly in providing learners with the encouragement and resources they need to perform at their best.

The meeting also included the securing of parental consent for the upcoming National Simultaneous Safety Drill tomorrow and updates on the schedule of the General PTA meeting and Leadership Training for grades 9 and 10.

Further announcement and arrangements will be communicated through the PTA group chat.
