The new facility provides a more conducive and functional environment for dental consultations, treatment, and preventive oral healthcare services.

During the ceremony, Brigadier General Ricky P. Bunayog, Acting Commander of the 6ID/JTF Central, led the ribbon-cutting and blessing of the facility, joined by Brigadier General Edgar L. Catu, Assistant Division Commander; Col. Sergio P. Macarandan Jr., Assistant Division Commander for Reservist and Retirees Affairs (ADCRRA); Col. Manuel Leo Q. Gador, Chief of Staff, 6ID; key officers; medical and dental personnel; and other enlisted personnel.

Brig. Gen. Bunayog emphasized that the inauguration of the newly constructed building reflects the Command's commitment to providing accessible and quality dental services to its personnel and their families. He underscored that the facility will enhance the delivery of essential healthcare services and contribute to the overall readiness, welfare, and well-being of the 6ID personnel.

The new facility is expected to further improve dental services and support the Dental Detachment in addressing the oral healthcare needs of troops and their authorized dependents.

The 6ID remains committed to strengthening its healthcare capabilities and ensuring that its personnel are physically fit, medically supported, and ready to fulfill their mandate of serving and protecting the people and communities within its area of responsibility.

IN PHOTOS || The 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central joined the nationwide commemoration of the 36th Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Code of Conduct during the Simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony held at Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, on October 5, 2026.

The commemoration reaffirmed every military personnel's commitment to uphold the highest standards of discipline, integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct in the performance of duty.

During the ceremony, Brigadier General Ricky P. Bunayog, Acting Commander of the 6ID/JTF Central, delivered the message of General Antonio G. Nafarrete, PA, Chief of Staff, AFP. The message emphasized that the AFP Code of Conduct serves as a moral compass and guiding framework for all military personnel, reinforcing the importance of maintaining a professional organization worthy of public trust. Personnel must reflect this in how they perform their duties, exercise authority, make decisions, and lead the people they serve.

Brig. Gen. Bunayog likewise urged the troops of 6ID to uphold professionalism, remain steadfast in their duties, and continue serving the community in accordance with the principles of the AFP Code of Conduct.

The Command also recognized enlisted personnel promoted to the next higher rank, personnel who demonstrated commendable performance and dedication in the discharge of their duties, and Civilian Human Resource who completed their Master of Arts in Peace and Development. These accomplishments highlight the value of continuous professional development, accountability, and dedication to mission accomplishment.

In his message, Brig. Gen. Bunayog commended the awardees' accomplishments and reminded newly promoted personnel that promotion and recognition carry greater responsibilities and a renewed commitment to uphold the standards of military service. He further encouraged the troops and Civilian Human Resource of the Command to pursue excellence and professionalism while upholding the trust and confidence the organization and the Filipino people have placed in them.

The recognition and advancement of 6ID personnel reflect the Command continuing commitment to developing a disciplined, capable, and professional force ready to assume greater responsibilities and fulfill its mandate of serving the Filipino people with honor and distinction.

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao del Norte—Representatives of the two parties involved in the recent armed clashes in Barangay Kalanganan, Cotabato City—Hon. Datu Bimbo Ayunan-Pasawiran, Barangay Chairman of Kalanganan, and Ustadz Abusaima Hussain (Abu Shaima), Base Commander of the 128th Base Command, BIAF-M**F, have expressed support for a cessation of hostilities and for a joint investigation and verification to prevent further violence and to address the situation through dialogue and established peace mechanisms.

The 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division held a consultative meeting at its headquarters on October 3, 2026. It was led by Brig. Gen. Ricky P. Bunayog, Acting Commander of 6ID/JTFC, and attended by representatives of the concerned parties, the GPH-M**F Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH), the Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (AHJAG), and other security and peace stakeholders.

The meeting gave both parties an opportunity to present their concerns, grievances, and perspectives on the situation in Kalanganan. At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties shook hands, signifying their commitment to honor the understandings reached and to work toward ending hostilities in the area.

As part of the agreed measures, an ocular inspection, verification, and investigation will be conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the recent incidents.

The Philippine National Police (PNP), through P/Col. Jibin M. Bongcayao, City Director of the Cotabato City Police Office, will initially lead the investigation in coordination with 6ID/JTF Central and the peace mechanisms. The CCCH and AHJAG will continue to facilitate coordination, verification, and dialogue among the concerned parties.

Meanwhile, 6ID troops will continue regular patrols and security operations in the area to protect residents and help prevent further incidents while the relevant parties and peace mechanisms pursue appropriate interventions.

Brig. Gen. Bunayog emphasized the need for all parties to exercise restraint, respect the rule of law, and uphold existing peace agreements and mechanisms.
“We do not want to see another exchange of fire in Kalanganan that could put our people’s lives and safety at risk. We will employ all lawful measures within our mandate to protect the community and maintain peace and order. The law applies equally to everyone, and we will not hesitate to enforce it against anyone who violates the rule of law or undermines the peace process. Our objective is to prevent further loss of life, protect civilians, establish the facts surrounding the incidents, and create conditions conducive to dialogue and peaceful resolution.”

The consultative meeting was attended by Hon. Malik Caril, Chairman of the M**F Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH); Mr. Nor-Ali S. Alamada, representative of the M**F Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (AHJAG); Brig. Gen. Larry C. Batalla, Commander of the 1st Marine Brigade; Col. Sergio P. Macarandan Jr., Assistant Division Commander for Reservist and Retirees Affairs (ADCRRA); Col. Rey Rico, G7; and other officers and representatives.

The Command urged all concerned stakeholders to remain calm, exercise restraint, avoid actions that could escalate tensions, and continue using established peace mechanisms and the rule of law to resolve community differences.

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao del Norte—The 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central conducted a Coordinating Conference with PNP and other concerned government security agencies in BARMM at the 6ID Conference Room, Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, on September 30, 2026.

Brig. Gen. Ricky P. Bunayog, Acting Commander of 6ID/JTF Central, led the conference alongside Brig. Gen. Edgar L. Catu, Assistant Division Commander, and other senior officers of the Command. The conference focused on strengthening coordination among government agencies and reaffirming 6ID/JTF Central's commitment to fully support the Philippine National Police (PNP) in lawfully conducting law enforcement operations in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Brig. Gen. Bunayog emphasized that 6ID/JTF Central will continue to support the PNP in carrying out legitimate law enforcement operations, including the lawful service of warrants, while ensuring all actions comply with existing laws, established procedures, and respect for human rights.

He stressed that these security coordination efforts aim not only to address security threats but, more importantly, to protect people and communities. He underscored that civilian safety must remain a priority at all times and that government forces must act professionally and respect the rights and dignity of every person while performing their duties.

Brig. Gen. Bunayog also urged individuals and groups who continue to engage in activities that threaten peace and public safety to reconsider their actions and choose a peaceful and lawful path. He particularly appealed to those in possession of illegal fi****ms and other unauthorized weapons to surrender them to the government through proper and lawful channels.

He reminded them that there is always an opportunity to choose a different path, one that leads away from violence and conflict and toward a peaceful life with their families and communities. “Piliin ang mapayapang buhay bago pa magsisi,” Brig. Gen. Bunayog said, encouraging those willing to abandon unlawful activities to return to the fold of the law.

At the same time, he made clear that individuals or groups who continue to threaten communities, violate the law, or disrupt peace and order must be held accountable through the appropriate legal processes. He emphasized that law enforcement will be conducted within the bounds of the law, with due regard for human rights and the protection of civilians.

The conference brought together representatives from the PNP, led by PCol. Jibin M. Bongcayao, City Director of the Cotabato City Police Office (CCPO), along with personnel from the Philippine Marine Corps, led by Brig. Gen. Larry C. Batalla, Commander of the 1st Marine Brigade; the Philippine Coast Guard; the Bureau of Fire Protection; the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group; and the Highway Patrol Group.

The participating agencies discussed key operational concerns, including law enforcement support, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR), troop and civilian movements, and post-election security operations. They also exchanged updates on the security situation in the BARMM region and discussed measures to strengthen coordination and ensure a timely and appropriate response to emerging concerns.

The Command reaffirmed its full support for the PNP and other concerned government agencies in fulfilling their respective mandates.

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao del Norte—The 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division, Philippine Army, celebrated its 39th Founding Anniversary Sportsfest 2026 on September 29, 2026, bearing the theme, “6ID @39: Maalab na Serbisyo, Matatag na Hukbo, Ligtas na Sambayanan.” The celebration highlighted the Division’s identity as one cohesive team working with camaraderie, discipline, and excellence toward a common purpose.

The opening ceremony featured a symbolic torch lighting, marking the official opening of the 6ID 39th Anniversary celebration and symbolizing the Command's unity and collective spirit.

Featured also were the Sportsfest activities that set the tone for a week of friendly competition and fellowship, as well as the presentation of participating teams: the Gray, Red, Blue, and Green Teams, bringing together the officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian human resources of 6ID in the spirit of camaraderie and teamwork.

The event highlighted not only physical fitness and healthy competition but also the importance of cooperation, discipline, and mutual respect.

In his message, Brig. Gen. Ricky P. Bunayog, Acting Commander of 6ID/JTF Central, emphasized to the troopers the importance of displaying camaraderie and unity and enjoying the activities through friendly competition.

“We must also give importance to our morale and welfare, especially our physical well-being. A physically fit soldier is more prepared for the demands of duty, a mentally and emotionally well soldier is better able to face challenges, and a soldier who feels connected to his or her fellow Kampilan trooper is more willing to stand with a team when the mission becomes tougher,” Brig. Gen. Bunayog stated.

The activity also reminds all personnel to compete with determination and sportsmanship, while the 6ID Sportsfest 2026 fosters a stronger sense of belonging and reinforces the spirit of camaraderie among the 6ID family.

The event was also attended by Brig. Gen. Edgar L. Catu, Assistant Division Commander, together with Col. Rey C. Rico, Inspector General of 6ID; Col. Sergio P. Political Instructor ng NPA, Sumuko at Sumaludo Bilang Pasasalamat sa Pamahalaan

Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte – Nagbalik-loob sa pamahalaan ang isang political instructor ng Regional Operations Command–Far South Mindanao Region (ROC-FSMR) ng CPP-NPA-NDF matapos humingi ng tulong na mabigyan ng pagkakataon magbagong buhay habang nagpapagamot sa isang pagamutan sa tulong ng pamahalaan at mga awtoridad.

Kinilala ang sumuko sa mga alyas na alyas Lovie, Tikong, at Yassie, bilang Political Instructor ng Executive Committee (ExeCom) at nakatalaga bilang medic ng ROC-FSMR. Iniuugnay rin siya bilang party wife ni Barney Arnaez, alyas Macmac, Akkay, at Tipos, na kinikilalang Commanding Officer ng ROC-FSMR.

Ayon sa mga awtoridad, humingi siya ng tulong sa Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng South Cotabato, katuwang ang 603rd Infantry (Persuader) Brigade, 105th Infantry (Saifullah) Battalion, Philippine National Police, at iba pang ahensya matapos umano siyang barilin ng kanyang mga kasamahan noong Setyembre 19, 2026 sa Tagum City. Dinala siya sa ospital para sa kaukulang gamutan, seguridad, at pangangalaga.

Sa kanyang salaysay, sinabi nito, "na noong Agosto ay nagpasya na akong mag-lie low sa kilusan dahil nakakahata na ako sa masamang balak ng aking mga kasamahan. Sa kasamaang palad ay nalaman grupo ang plano kong magbalik loob kaya binaril nila ako at nagtamo ng tama na bala. Dahil dito, sumuko ako sa pamahalaan at humingi ako ng tulong upang makapagpagamot at ang inaalala ko ay pagbubuntis ko. Buo ang aking disisyon na talikuran ang armadong grupo at mamuhay nang mapayapa habang ako'y nagdadalang-tao at para na rin sa magandang kinabukasan naming mag ina".

Binanggit din niya ang pagod at hirap sa patuloy na pagtatago sa kabundukan, matinding pagkatakot sa engkwentro ng kasundaluhan at higit sa lahat ay naisip niya na walang patutunguhan ang patuloy na armadong pakikibaka.

Sa tulong ng mga awtoridad at concerned government agencies, kabilang ang Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng South Cotabato sa pangunguna ni Gov. Tamayo, naipagamot siya sa isang medical facility at nabigyan ng kinakailangang seguridad at suporta. Nagpaabot naman si Manguinguilid ng pasasalamat sa mga awtoridad at lokal na pamahalaan panlalawigan ng South Cotabato dahil sa tulong, seguridad, at malasakit na kanyang natanggap sa halip na ituring siyang kaaway.

Ayon kay Col. Glenn Loreto T. Caballero, Acting Brigade Commander ng 603rd Infantry Brigade, Bukas ang pamahalaan sa mga gustong magbalik loob. Ang pagsuko ni Manguingilid ay isang tagumpay at bunga ng patuloy na pakikipag tulungan ng iba't ibang ahensiya ng pamahalaan, awtoridad at mamamayan.

Samantala, pinuri ni Brig. Gen. Ricky P. Bunayog, Acting Commander ng 6ID/JTF Central, ang lokal na Pamahalaan Panlalawigan ng South Cotabato, mga tropa ng 603rd Infantry Brigade, 105th Infantry Battalion, Kapulisan at mamamayan sa matatag na ugnayan at pakikipagtulungan para sa kapayapaan. Pinuri na rin ni Brig. Gen. Bunayog ang tapang ni Manguinguilid na talikuran ang armadong kilusan ng NPA. Hinikayat din niya ang iba pang miyembro ng Communist Terrorist Group na talikuran ang armadong pakikibaka at magbalik-loob sa pamahalaan.

IN PHOTOS || Camp Siongco, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao del Norte — The 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central honored the courage and dedicated service of two valiant soldiers who tragically lost their lives in a shooting incident in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte, on September 23, 2026.

Posthumous military honors were conferred upon Corporal Jobert C. Labuson and Corporal John Mark C. Dumaguing, both members of the 7th Infantry Battalion, 6ID, Philippine Army. The two soldiers honorably and faithfully served the country and its people.

Brig. Gen. Ricky P. Bunayog, Acting Commander of 6ID/JTF Central, together with the senior staff of 6ID, led the awarding of the posthumous honors during a solemn ceremony at the Camp Siongco Mortuary on September 25, 2026. The awards were received by the grieving families of the fallen heroes.

As part of the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ continuing support for the families of soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, financial assistance was also immediately provided to the bereaved families.
Expressing his profound grief and unwavering admiration for the fallen troops, Brig. Gen. Bunayog paid tribute to their resolute commitment to the nation.

“The 6ID and JTF Central deeply mourns the tragic loss of Corporal Labuson and Corporal Dumaguing—two dedicated soldiers who unselfishly answered the call of duty and faithfully served the Filipino people. Their untimely passing is a heavy blow to the Command, but their courage and selfless service will forever remain in our hearts. To our fallen heroes, thank you for laying down your lives in defense of peace and public safety. Your sacrifices will never be forgotten. We assure your grieving families, loved ones, and comrades that justice will be served, and we will not rest until the perpetrators of this cowardly act are held fully accountable,” Brig. Gen. Bunayog stated.

Meanwhile, funeral services were rendered in honor of the fallen soldiers. Capt. Danilo F. Diaz II, Division Chaplain of the 6th Infantry Division, led the blessing of their remains. The rites were conducted prior to their final send-off, as their remains were transported to their respective hometowns to be laid to rest by their loved ones.

The 6ID/JTF Central strongly condemned the unacceptable act of violence and assured the public that every possible resource is being mobilized to bring those responsible to justice and hold them accountable under the law.

6ID/JTFC Strengthens Security Coordination for Peace and Progressive Development

IN PHOTOS || The 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central, represented by its Acting Commander, Brig. Gen. Ricky P. Bunayog, participated in the Joint Provincial Development Council (PDC) meeting held at Mango Grove, Datu Anggal Midtimbang, Maguindanao del Sur, on September 24, 2026.

The meeting also tackled various issues and concerns raised by the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), Provincial Environmental and Solid Waste Management Board (PESWMB), and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) of Maguindanao del Sur.

The engagement served as a platform for provincial officials, security forces, local government units, and concerned government agencies to discuss pressing concerns affecting the province, particularly in the areas of peace and security, local development, disaster preparedness and response, and environmental management.

During the gathering, Brig. Gen. Bunayog presented updates on the prevailing peace and security situation within the 6ID and JTF Central Area of Responsibility. He highlighted the continuing efforts of the security sector to address security concerns, prevent threats, and maintain a peaceful and secure environment for communities in Maguindanao del Sur.

“Rest assured that the 6ID and Joint Task Force Central will continue to fulfill its mandate and sustain our efforts to preserve peace and support development in the area. We are continuously coordinating with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Local Government Units to ensure that any remaining threats are immediately addressed to safeguard our people we served. We remain committed to working closely with our partner agencies and stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of our communities,” Brig. Gen. Bunayog said.

Brig. Gen. Bunayog further emphasized that the Command continues to establish and strengthen security measures in support of the development of Maguindanao del Sur and neighboring provinces in the entire BARMM region.

The engagement also underscored the importance of a whole-of-government and whole-of-community approach in addressing peace and security concerns while advancing local development, disaster resilience, and environmental protection. Further, it strengthened commitment among participating agencies to sustain collaboration and coordinated actions in addressing the province’s peace, security, development, disaster management, and environmental concerns.
