The 2nd meeting of the Committee on Laws & Ordinances tackled the Sisterhood Agreement between the City of Ormoc and the Camotes Group of Islands.

This sisterhood agreement was proposed by the Municipalities of Pilar, Poro, San Francisco, and Tudela in Cebu, also known as the Camotes Group of Islands. They expressed that the geographical proximity between the Camotes Islands and Ormoc City enables effective collaboration in the development of tourism, culture, education, sports, trade, livelihood, peace and safety, disaster risk reduction, and other areas.

We highly appreciate the presence of Mayor Rama, Mayor Solante, and the representatives of the Camotes Group of Islands for the meaningful discussion.

One hundred thirty-eight (138) beneficiaries of DSWD Core Shelter received their Individual Transfer Certificates of Title (TCT) today at the DSWD Core Shelter Covered Court. The long-awaited event was organized by the Ormoc City Housing Office (OCHO) and assisted by the City General Services Office (CGSO), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), City Assessor's Office (CAO), and the Registry of Deeds (ROD).

The DSWD Core Shelter Project in Barangay Tambulilid was established after the 1991 Tropical Storm Thelma (Uring) caused a flash flood in the Anilao-Malbasag watershed. It destroyed thousands of homes, displacing families who resided near the riverbanks. Two hundred seventy-six (276) beneficiaries were chosen and relocated there to restart their lives. Since then, they have been living there for more than 30 years.

The efforts of the City Government of Ormoc, the DSWD Core Shelter Homeowners Association (HOA), headed by HOA President Mr. Arturo Tan, and the residents have finally paid off after years of processing the necessary documents.

The 17th Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Ormoc held their Regular Session at Barangay Cagbuhangin this morning at 9:00 AM. Barangay Officials of District 5 attended the event.

The Field Sessions are held to bring the Sangguniang Panlungsod closer to the barangays, allowing residents to witness how a Regular Session is conducted, and giving barangay officials the opportunity to present the specific issues and concerns of their respective barangays.
