PDRRMO Maguindanao del Sur Participates in Local DRRM Planning Training Course | September 28 - October 1, 2026

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Maguindanao del Sur attended and participated in the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Planning Training Course conducted by the Office of Civil Defense – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (OCD-BAR) at Microtel by Wyndham, General Santos City.

The training aimed to strengthen the technical knowledge and skills of local DRRM officers in developing Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plans (LDRRMPs) in accordance with the standards and frameworks of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

The training gathered representatives from different LGUs across Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, and the Special Geographic Area to enhance their knowledge and skills in local DRRM planning.

A fire incident was reported at the Poblacion Public Market in Datu Paglas, Maguindanao del Sur.

Upon learning of the incident from MDRRMO Datu Paglas, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office- Maguindanao del Sur personnel stationed in Buluan immediately proceeded to the area to augment the ongoing response and provide assistance.

The team coordinated with the municipal government and responding Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel from Datu Paglas, Buluan, Gen. Salipada K. Pendatun, Paglat, and Colombio.

The fire spread rapidly, making the response more difficult as most of the structures in the area were made of light materials. Responding teams worked together to contain the fire, assist affected individuals, and help prevent further damage to nearby properties.

The incident also highlights the need for continued fire safety awareness, especially in areas with closely built and light-material structures. Residents and business owners are reminded to regularly check electrical connections and appliances, avoid overloading outlets, keep flammable materials away from heat sources, and maintain clear access routes and exits.

In case of fire, remain calm, evacuate immediately to a safe area, and contact the nearest fire station or emergency response authorities.

Joint PDRRMC, PDC, PPOC, PADAC and PESWMB Meeting
September 24, 2026

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), together with the Provincial Development Council (PDC), Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), and Provincial Ecological Solid Waste Management Board (PESWMB), conducted a joint council meeting today at Mango Grove, DAM.

The meeting was presided over by Governor Datu Ali Midtimbang, with MILG Maguindanao del Sur Provincial Director Amina Dalandag. It provided an opportunity for the different provincial councils and partner offices to share updates and discuss matters related to development, peace and security, social welfare, environmental concerns, and disaster risk reduction and management.

For the PDRRMC, the agenda included updates on El Niño from DOST-PAGASA, the results of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA), and the Thailand Flood Mitigation initiative, which was presented by Board Member Rahib Nando.

Other matters discussed during the joint meeting included the presentation of the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP), updates on local social welfare services in preparation for full devolution, security updates, the prevention of nihilistic violent extremism, POPS Plan updates, BDC/P planning updates, and PESWMB updates.

Multi-Hazards Simulation Exercise in Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur | September 23, 2026

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Maguindanao del Sur along with MDRRMO Ampatuan, MDRRMO Datu Abdullah Sangki (DAS), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Ampatuan and BFP DAS, Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Rural Health Unit (RHU) Ampatuan, Ministry of Social Services and Development, and the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) of Saniag, Ampatuan conducted a Multi-Hazards Simulation Exercise (SIMEX).

The simulation exercise showcased different emergency scenarios including landslide, vehicular accident, and flooding. It also presented the proper conduct of pre-emptive evacuation to ensure the safety of residents in high-risk areas.

The operations aimed to test and enhance the preparedness, coordination, and interoperability of all responding agencies, as well as to increase community awareness on proper disaster response.

After the simulation, every participating agency gave their comments and insights in regards to each scenario, sharing their observations and recommendations to further improve emergency response and community preparedness.

This activity is part of the continuing commitment of the Provincial Government of Maguindanao del Sur, under the directive of Gov. Datu Ali Midtimbang, to strengthen Disaster Risk Reduction and Management programs and to build disaster-resilient communities.

BLUE ALERT STATUS | 2026 BARMM PARLIAMENTARY ELECTION

Following the conclusion of the 2026 BARMM Parliamentary Election, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) – Emergency Operations Center (EOC) of Maguindanao del Sur is downgrading its Alert Status from RED to BLUE, effective September 15, 2026.

All concerned personnel and response teams are advised to remain alert, prepared, and ready to respond to any emergency or incident that may arise.
