LOOK | PNPAAAI Conducts Membership Orientation for PNPA SILANG-PAGLAOM Class 2026

On March 5, 2026, the Philippine National Police Academy Alumni Association, Inc. (PNPAAAI) conducted a Membership Orientation for the PNPA SILANG-PAGLAOM Class at the Old Mess Hall, PNPA, Silang, Cavite.

As part of the program of the Membership Committee, chaired by Lakan Serafin F. Petalio II, the activity aimed to prepare the graduating cadets for their transition into active service and to encourage early engagement with the alumni association. The session provided an overview of PNPAAAI’s mission, programs, and opportunities for involvement, highlighting the importance of unity, leadership, and continued connection within the Lakan community.

Through the sharing of insights and guidance from alumni officers- namely Lakan Atty. Joaquin R. Alva ’92, Legal Officer; Lakan Byron F. Allatog ’01, Auditor; and Lakan Benson Pimentel, PNP Chapter Representative-the orientation emphasized the value of staying connected, supporting one another, and upholding the standards of excellence expected of every Lakan beyond the Academy.

This initiative reflects PNPAAAI’s continuing commitment to guide and empower the next generation of public safety leaders as they begin their journey in service to the nation.

PRESS RELEASE

Ten PNPA Alumni Honored with the Prestigious Gawad Dakilang Lakan 2025

From the quiet discipline of cadet life to the demanding frontlines of public service, ten distinguished graduates of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) have risen to exemplify the very ideals the Academy seeks to instill in every cadet. In recognition of their exceptional leadership, unwavering integrity, and remarkable contributions to public service, these ten alumni have been named recipients of the Gawad Dakilang Lakan 2025, the highest and most prestigious honor conferred by the PNPA Alumni Association, Inc. (PNPAAAI).

Selected from more than 55 Lakan members across the country, the awardees represent the finest among PNPA graduates serving in the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP). Each one carries the mark of the “Tatak Lakan”—a brand of leadership forged through discipline, courage, and an enduring commitment to serve the Filipino people.

Formerly known as the Lakan Distinguished Award, the Gawad Dakilang Lakan honors alumni who have lived out the Academy’s timeless guiding principle: “To Learn Today, To Lead Tomorrow.” Their journeys—from the halls of the Academy to positions of responsibility in communities across the nation—reflect how the values instilled in PNPA continue to shape leaders who protect lives, strengthen institutions, and uphold the rule of law.

The 2025 Gawad Dakilang Lakan awardees are:

• LAKAN ANTHONY A. ABERIN, PNPA Tagapaglunsad Class of 1993
• LAKAN PONCE ROGELIO I. PEÑONES JR., PNPA Patnubay Class of 1995
• LAKAN MARIE ROSE J. LAGUYO, PNPA Magilas Class of 2000
• LAKAN BARTOLOME O. BELIRAN, PNPA Buklod-Diwa Class of 2001
• LAKAN BERNARD L. LAO, PNPA Buklod-Diwa Class of 2001
• LAKAN BENSON D. PIMENTEL, PNPA Bagsay-Lahi Class of 2006
• LAKAN JOSEPHUS F. ALBURO, PNPA Sansinirangan Class of 2007
• LAKAN ROMMEL P. BAGSIC, PNPA Sansinirangan Class of 2007
• LAKAN FLORANTE M. SUGIAN II, PNPA Mandilaab Class of 2014
• LAKAN JOSE MARIE D. SABENIANO, PNPA Masidlak Class of 2017

The distinguished awardees will be formally honored during the Grand Alumni Parade of the 46th PNPA Alumni Homecoming Celebration on March 14, 2026, at the PNPA grounds in Camp General Mariano N. Castañeda, Silang, Cavite. This year’s celebration carries the theme: “Isang Asosasyon, Bihirang Pagkakataon, Pag-asa ng Bagong Henerasyon.”

During the ceremony, the honorees will receive the Dakila Trophy, a powerful symbol of honor and service designed by National Artist for Visual Arts Toym Imao. The trophy represents the enduring legacy of PNPA graduates—leaders who stand as guardians of public safety and pillars of nation-building.

The selection of this year’s awardees was undertaken through a rigorous process led by a distinguished panel composed of members of the PNPAAAI Board of Trustees and respected representatives from civil society, including leaders from the academe, local government, religious sector, and business community. Their collective participation ensures that the award remains credible, meaningful, and deeply respected.

More than a celebration of individual accomplishment, the Gawad Dakilang Lakan is a tribute to the spirit of service that defines every PNPA graduate. These Lakans embody leadership rooted in discipline, guided by integrity, and sustained by a lifelong commitment to protect and serve.

As they continue to lead in their respective fields, their stories stand as a powerful reminder to the next generation of cadets: that true leadership is not measured by rank or position, but by courage, character, and the unwavering resolve to serve the Filipino people with honor.
