𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐰𝐚 𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚: 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐚

Ngayong araw, ipinagdiriwang ang Araw ng mga Manggagawa. Isang selebrasyon ng kanilang tibay, tatag, at lakas na lumaban sa hamon ng buhay. Gigising ng maaga para makipagsapalaran sa daanan, susuong sa dagsa ng tao para lamang makapunta sa paroroonan, at magtatrabaho kahit walang laman ang kanilang mga tiyan—mga bagay na hindi nakikita ng karamihan. Hindi lamang natatapos ang kanilang gawain sa kanilang mga trabaho, matapos nito, uuwi ng bahay para mag-asikaso ng mga anak, magulang, at pamilya. Ang tangi na lamang nilang pahinga ay tulog na kung minsan ay hindi pa sapat at kinabukasan ay babangon ulit para mag-trabaho upang may maiuwing pagkain sa hapag.

Hindi madali ang kanilang ginagawa, minsan maayos ang trabaho ngunit madalas pagod at walang ganang pumasok. Makikita natin silang madalas na nakangiti, ngunit sa likod nito ang pagod na kanilang ikinukubli. Banat buto silang kumakayod para sa maliit na sahod. Sa panahon at ekonomiyang ito, hindi na sasapat ang 695 kada araw na sahod para mabuhay. Nagsitaasan ang mga bilihin, maski gas ay tumaas na rin. Kung patuloy itong mangyayari, ano na ang magiging buhay ng manggagawa natin? Kaya kailangang pakinggan ang tugon ng mga manggagawa na taasan ang kanilang mga sahod. Sila ang nagbabanat ng buto at napapagod upang mabuhay ang bawat sektor sa bansang ito. Mula magsasaka, mangingisda, hanggang sa mga service crew at mga contractual, sila ay humihiling na pakinggan ang kanilang mga boses, tugunan ang kanilang mga hinaing, at bigyan ng nararapat at tapat na sahod para sa lahat.

Kaya, nakikiisa ang START AIT sa pagdiriwang ng Araw ng mga Manggagawa. Bawat isa sa kanila ay ipinagmamalaki at itinuturing na dangal ng masa. Saludo kami sa inyong paghihirap at sa patuloy ninyong pagbangon upang makapagbigay sa inyong pamilya. Hindi matatawaran ang inyong sakripisyo at dedikasyon sa pagtatrabaho. Kaya ang sigaw ng bayan, SAHOD ITAAS, PRESYO IBABA!

𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗟 𝗚𝗢: 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀, 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲

Emil Go was not just an activist. He was a man who chose, every single day, to stand with the people. From his early years as a campus journalist and student leader, he was already challenging injustice and speaking up when silence was easier. Whether in government service or in grassroots organizations, his mission never changed. He fought for those who were unheard and confronted systems that failed them.

On the morning of April 29, 2016, that courage was met with violence.

At 44 years old, Emil Go was biking home. It was a simple and ordinary moment. Armed men intercepted him just meters away from his house. In broad daylight, in his own community, he was shot multiple times. What should have been a safe return home became his final act of defiance. His killing was not random. It was a message meant to silence not only him, but anyone who dared to resist.

But Emil Go was never meant to be silenced.

He spent years organizing, educating, and mobilizing communities. As a leader in Bayan and a convenor of Katungod Sinirangan Bisayas, he stood at the frontlines, linking people’s struggles to larger systems of power. During the 2016 elections, he openly supported a challenger against a long standing political figure. He challenged corruption directly and became a threat to those who benefited from it.

And for that, he paid the ultimate price.

Nearly a decade later, justice has not come.

No masterminds have been held accountable. No real answers have been given. His case remains one of many stories buried under a system where violence against activists is met with silence, delay, and denial. Emil Go’s death is not just a tragedy. It is evidence of a deeper problem. It reflects a culture where those who fight for justice lose their lives, while those in power remain untouched.

But remembering him is not enough.

We must demand accountability.
We must protect those who continue his fight.
We must refuse to accept a system where justice is optional.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀.
𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻.

As part of our Women’s Month activities, EmpowHER: Practical Self-Defense was conducted last March 23, 2026, in partnership with Coach Brixtonn of BRX Martial Arts.

The workshop provided participants with essential self-defense techniques focused on awareness, preparedness, and immediate response. It created a space for individuals to build confidence while equipping themselves with practical skills that can be applied in real-life situations.

At the same time, the session highlighted a broader issue—the continuing prevalence of unsafe environments that disproportionately affect women. While self-defense is an important form of empowerment, it also points to the urgent need for collective action in addressing violence, harassment, and systemic gaps in ensuring safety.

EmpowHER stands as both an initiative for individual empowerment and a call to advocate for safer, more inclusive spaces where women’s rights and security are upheld.

As part of our Women’s Month initiatives, HERstory: Empowered Women, Empowered Futures was held last April 7, 2026, featuring Ms. Ann Dumaliang of Masungi Georeserve.

The session centered on the realities of women in leadership—highlighting the structural barriers, gendered expectations, and power dynamics that continue to shape women’s participation across sectors. Through her insights, Ms. Dumaliang emphasized that women’s leadership is not only about representation, but about transforming systems to become more inclusive, accountable, and sustainable.

The discussion also underscored the intersection between gender and environmental advocacy. Women, particularly in communities directly affected by environmental degradation, remain at the forefront of conservation efforts, yet are often excluded from key decision-making spaces. Strengthening women’s voices in these areas is critical to achieving both gender equality and environmental sustainability.

More than a talk, HERstory served as a platform to reaffirm the importance of advancing women’s rights—not only by recognizing contributions, but by actively challenging the structures that limit them.

And that’s a wrap for CLEANTRAMUROS! 🧹🏛️

From preserving the beauty of Intramuros to promoting environmental awareness and heritage appreciation, every contribution truly mattered.

We hope this experience inspires more people to take part in protecting the places that hold our history and culture.
