AGBIAG ("Mabuhay" in Ilocano) is a party-list group representing the interests of the agricultural sector in the Philippines. What is a party-list and why is it important? A party-list system is a system wherein a representative represents a party or group (#113 AGBIAG), instead of a district in a city or province. Party-list representatives are voted for on a nation-wide scale. The party list sys
tem promotes a healthy democracy, as it allows representation in congress of those who need it most. Through this system, sectors that have been ignored or have been under-represented in our government will finally have a voice. Why should I vote for AGBIAG? The agricultural industry is one of the main drivers of the economy of the Philippines. The agricultural industry affects every single Filipino in our country in some way. However, due to the lack of needed reforms and initiatives, our agricultural industry has been surpassed by many of our neighbouring Asian countries. A vote for AGBIAG is a vote for the modernization and growth of the Philippines’ agricultural sector. AGBIAG will work hard and create bills to protect and improve the livelihood of those involved in this sector, like farmers for instance. For example, AGBIAG’s advocacies can lead to higher crop production which can lead to lower food prices for the average Filipino. Three main points of advocacies for AGBIAG:
AGRICULTURE
EDUCATION
HEALTH
