FAKE SURVIVOR IN PAMPANGA BUILDING COLLAPSE ARRESTED

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — A man who posed as a survivor in the recent collapse of a building in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City, to be able to claim financial assistance has been arrested.

The arrest came after a construction worker spotted the man at a command post set up near the collapsed structure, where families of the victims gathered to wait for developments on the search and rescue operation.

PNP CHIEF WELCOMES HIGH TRUST RATING AMID REFORM GAINS

MANILA – Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. welcomed the results of the latest nationwide “Boses ng Bayan” Index of Governance (IOG) survey released recently by RPMD Foundation Inc. as it recognized him as one of the highest-rated government officials in the country.

The survey, conducted from April 1 to 8, 2026, with 5,000 respondents, showed that Nartatez got an overall governance score of 78.8 percent, along with a 78.5 percent trust rating and 79.1 percent performance rating.

PNP LOOKS TO THE SOUTH KOREA MODEL TO STRENGTHEN CRIME-FIGHTING CAPABILITIES

MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to further modernize its crime data systems through a partnership with South Korea aimed at boosting investigative efficiency, speeding up response times, and strengthening case resolution across all units.

This, as the PNP and Department of the Interior and Local Government signed a partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) last week to develop the Criminal Investigation Data Management and Analysis System (CIDMAS), a unified crime data platform designed to modernize law enforcement operations nationwide.

BACOLOD COPS NAB TEEN SUSPECT IN PHP2.17M SHABU STING OPERATION

Bacolod City – A 19-year-old male suspect was arrested in a buy-bust that led to the recovery of Php2.176M in shabu at Purok Tahong, Barangay 2 here Sunday, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) said in a report.

At around 2:30 a.m., alias “Nash” sold a sachet of shabu worth PHP1,000 to an undercover policeman of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU).

Dakong alas-9:15 ng gabi ng Mayo 29, nang ganap na maaresto ang suspek na si alyas “Madaam”, sa Brgy. Tunasan, at nakatakdang isailalim sa inquest proceedings sa Muntinlupa City Prosecutor’s Office sa reklamong paglabag sa Section 5 at 11 ng Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

SUSPECT NABBED FOR QUALIFIED TRAFFICKING IN ANGAT, BULACAN

MANILA, Philippines — A suspect was arrested on charges of qualified trafficking in Angat, Bulacan, on Friday night.

The arrest was based on a warrant issued by Judge Adonis Laurel of the Malolos Regional Trial Court Branch 76 for two counts of qualified trafficking as provided under Republic Act 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.
