PNP TRACKS DOWN CAGAYAN’S NO. 10 MOST WANTED IN ILLEGAL RECRUITMENT CASE

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has arrested a woman listed as the Number 10 Regional Most Wanted Person in Cagayan Valley in a manhunt operation conducted in Antipolo City, Rizal, as authorities continue efforts to locate individuals facing serious criminal charges.

The arrest was carried out on September 2, 2026, in Barangay Bagong Nayon 1 by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Cagayan Provincial Field Unit, in coordination with intelligence units and local police personnel. The suspect, who is of legal age, was apprehended by virtue of warrants issued by a court in Aparri, Cagayan, for Large-Scale Illegal Recruitment and Estafa.

The warrant for Large-Scale Illegal Recruitment carried no recommended bail, while the warrant for Estafa carried a recommended bail of ₱18,000.00.

Based on the case filed against her, the suspect and three other individuals allegedly recruited several persons between June and November 2025 by offering overseas factory employment in Europe and Poland with a promised monthly salary of ₱120,000.00. The alleged recruitment was carried out through social media, messaging applications, and group chats, with the complainants reportedly paying a combined ₱220,000.00. for placement, processing, and slot reservation fees.

The PNP said the operation reflects its continuing efforts to protect the public from illegal recruitment schemes and ensure that individuals with standing warrants are brought before the proper courts. The police organization also reminded the public to verify the legitimacy of overseas employment offers and the authorization of recruitment entities before making payments or submitting personal documents.

“People looking for work abroad are placing their trust in those who offer them opportunities. That trust should never be taken advantage of. We will continue to work with our partner agencies to track those facing cases and help protect our people from schemes that can put their savings and future at risk,” Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said.

The operation forms part of the PNP’s Focused Agenda, particularly the Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which strengthens coordination, information-sharing, and timely police action in locating wanted persons. This supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s continuing call for responsive government service and stronger protection for the Filipino people.

The PNP likewise urged the public to remain cautious when dealing with overseas job offers, especially those promising unusually high salaries, and to verify recruitment credentials with the appropriate government authorities.

As the PNP continues to strengthen its service to communities and uphold the law with fairness and accountability, its commitment remains anchored on the principle of a “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”

FAKE TRAFFIC ENFORCER ARRESTED IN ALLEGED EXTORTION ATTEMPT IN PARAÑAQUE

Police authorities in Parañaque City arrested a 42-year-old man who allegedly posed as an active traffic enforcer and demanded money from a local business in exchange for supposedly preventing traffic violations involving its delivery vehicles.

The suspect initially approached personnel of a concrete products company in Barangay San Martin de Porres on September 1, claiming to be a traffic enforcer from Taguig City. He allegedly asked for money in return for allowing the company’s trucks to operate without receiving traffic citations.

The suspect returned to the establishment on September 9 and again allegedly made the same demand. Alert employees promptly sought police assistance, leading responding officers to intercept and arrest him.

Verification with the Taguig City Traffic Management Office later showed that the suspect was no longer an active traffic enforcer, although he had previously served in such capacity.

The suspect is currently under police custody while appropriate legal proceedings are being undertaken. He is facing complaints for Attempted Robbery-Extortion, Usurpation of Authority, and Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority under Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code.

Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the Philippine National Police, commended the quick action of the responding personnel and the cooperation of the business employees.

“Hindi dapat ginagamit ang pangalan ng law enforcement para makakuha ng anumang pabor o pera. If there is a questionable demand, speak up. In this case, the employees did the right thing by asking for police assistance, and our personnel responded. That kind of vigilance helps us address concerns quickly and protect the public,” PGen Nartatez said.

He emphasized that the PNP remains committed to protecting businesses and communities from individuals who may attempt to misuse the name or authority of law enforcement for personal gain.

The operation forms part of the PNP’s Focused Agenda, particularly its Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which emphasizes timely police response, proper coordination, and effective action on reported incidents. It also supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call for responsive public service and stronger protection for communities.

The PNP likewise reminds the public to verify the identity and authority of individuals claiming to be law enforcement personnel and to promptly report suspicious demands or acts of intimidation to the nearest police station.

Through these continuing efforts, the PNP remains steadfast in advancing a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

PNP TURNS OVER FORMER SPEAKER ROMUALDEZ TO BJMP CUSTODY

The Philippine National Police (PNP) formally turned over the custody and security of former Speaker Ferdinand Martin Gomez Romualdez to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) on Thursday, September 10, 2026, in compliance with the Order of Commitment issued by the Sandiganbayan Third Division.

Romualdez is facing a plunder case before the Sandiganbayan over alleged kickbacks linked to government flood control projects. The case remains under judicial proceedings, with due process and the presumption of innocence fully observed.

At about 3:50 PM, BJMP personnel formally assumed custody and security responsibility over Romualdez at the medical facility in San Juan where he remains confined. The turnover followed verification of the court order and completion of the necessary custodial procedures.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the PNP will continue to implement court orders professionally, in coordination with concerned government agencies and with full respect for due process.

“We simply did what the court ordered, and we did it properly. The PNP’s responsibility is to make sure that every legal process entrusted to us is carried out with professionalism and respect for the rights of the person in our custody. Trabaho lang, ayon sa batas at sa utos ng korte.”

The turnover is consistent with the PNP Focused Agenda and Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), which emphasize coordinated, responsive, and disciplined police action in support of the rule of law.

The PNP remains committed to performing its mandate with professionalism, fairness, and respect for due process, consistent with “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”
