As part of the continuous implementation of DOST-SINAG through SARAI CeNTRO Central Luzon, a site validation activity for the Automatic Weather Station (AWS) was conducted in Dingalan, Aurora to assess the suitability of the proposed installation site and support the expansion of localized weather monitoring systems in the municipality.
The activity was facilitated by Engr. Mark Anthony Hementera and Mr. June Alexis Santos of SARAI CeNTRO Central Luzon in coordination with the Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) Aurora focal person, Mr. Heinrich Villanueva, and LGU focal person, Mr. Rommel S. Jintalan. The validation activity was also assisted by barangay officials from the proposed installation sites, who provided local support and coordination during the field assessment.
As part of the activity, the AWS unit was formally turned over to Dingalan Mayor Aurora Guzman-Taay as part of the municipalityโs support for climate and weather monitoring initiatives under the DOST-SINAG Program. Discussions on the technical requirements and installation preparations were likewise conducted with Engr. Jairies Fae P. Batas to ensure proper site readiness and compliance with installation specifications.
The site validation focused on assessing key technical requirements such as environmental suitability, accessibility, communication and power availability, and the capacity of the location to generate reliable weather data for agricultural and climate monitoring purposes.
This initiative forms part of the continuing efforts of DOST-SINAG to strengthen localized climate information systems and provide timely, science-based weather data that can support farmers, local government units, researchers, and disaster risk reduction stakeholders in making informed decisions.
Through the continued implementation of DOST-SINAG via SARAI CeNTRO Central Luzon, the program remains committed to promoting climate resilience and data-driven environmental monitoring for communities across the region.
