Legacy. Action. Determination.
Through Dr. Brian Gil S. Sarinas' 15 years of service as a researcher, success and bounty awards paved the way for him to be featured in the book โOvercoming Adversity and Gaining Momentum,โ which focuses on the inspirational stories of Metrobank Foundation Scholars.
Metrobank Foundation Inc. was established on January 8, 1979 by Dr. George S.K Ty and was put into place to provide service for the underprivileged and marginalized sectors of the society.
Extending responsive aid to the calamity survivors in the country and implementing various programs on health, visual arts, recognition of excellence among key professions and education includes granting scholarships to the well-deserving students in the country.
As for Dr. Sarinas, a research coordinator of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc., whose career in understanding the maritime industry through research gave him recognition as the only standing Metrobank Scholar in the whole universityโs system.
MBFIโs Scholarship program started in 1995. Later in 2003, Dr. Sarinas became one of the scholars of this prominent organization.
At that particular time, he studied at West Visayas State University (WVSU) and graduated as the only Cum Laude in his degree, Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Biology.
Dr. Sarinas continued to master his craft as he received his Master of Science major in Biology at the University of the Philippines Visayas in 2010, as a scholar of the Commission of Higher Education (CHED) Higher Education Development Project-Faculty Development Program (HEDP-FDP).
In 2014, he held the degree โ Doctor of Philosophy in Science Education major in Biology at his alma mater, WVSU.
Through this acquired knowledge in maritime education, he published many research studies that helped his fellow Filipinos and made him one of the best alumni scholars at Metrobank.
