About HASIK, the organizer of PATIKAR-RUN...

“Halina’t Ating Sagipin ang Inang Kalikasan” (HASIK)
San Jose, Batangas

OUR VISION

A community living in a green and healthy environment that reflects the town’s noble history and protects and enhances God’s given resources.

OUR MISSION

To restore the simple, healthy and peaceful place our town used to be and gradually develop it into an Agri-Eco-Tourist Municipality

San Jose, Batangas is a beautiful and historical town between two (2) cities, Batangas City and Lipa City. It is nature bounty with many mini forests and hundreds of springs along our nine (9) rivers, approximately 108 km. long (excluding tributaries) . Seven (7) of these rivers headwaters are in our town. The community was provided with food, water and recreation places by these rivers. This is how San Jose our town was born.

In November 6, 1926, Calumpang River, the catch basin of our rivers, overflowed. It was the worst disaster that happened in Batangas. 300 died including the lolo, lola and 4 brothers of the father of Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales.

Today, because we do not have proper waste disposal, our livestocks and solid wastes are dumped into these rivers. Calumpang River now has become very shallow due to siltation brought about by the accumulation of all wastes. If nothing is done to address this problem, the 1926 flood disaster can happen again very soon.

In 1993, Susi Foundation and SANDIWA Koop. launched HASIK (Halina’t Ating Sagipin ang Inang Kalikasan). The then Mayor Edgardo Ll. Umali was a board member of the said foundation. He helped organized all sectors - NGO’s, church, schools, LGU, Livestock Producers and then Cong. Ralph Recto and wife Vilma Santos. Together, a peaceful rally was staged which ended the signing of the agreement that we will all work together to protect our environment. Till this day, it remains on paper.

In May, 2012, HASIK was registered as a non-profit, non-government and non-stock corporation. It was reorganized by concerned citizens. Lt. Gen. Jose L. Reyes, the former Commanding General of the Philippine Airforce is now the Acting President.
