During our educational tour at the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) facilities and ships, PNP cadets gained firsthand insights into maritime law enforcement, search and rescue operations, and the PCG's important role in safeguarding the Philippines' coastal borders. We observed the operational capabilities of PCG vessels and learned about the challenges of maritime patrols and border security. Crucially, we also learned how the PCG collaborates with the Philippine National Police (PNP) through joint operations against illegal activities like smuggling and human trafficking, intelligence sharing, and coordinated responses during maritime emergencies and disaster relief. This experience underscored the importance of interagency cooperation in maintaining national security and ensuring public safety, highlighting how both agencies contribute to a unified approach in protecting the country's vast maritime domain.
