DILG Maasin City Supports International Coastal Clean-Up Day

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) โ€“ Maasin City joins the nationwide observance of the International Coastal Clean-Up Day, pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 470, s. 2003, which declares the third Saturday of September of every year as International Coastal Clean-Up Day in the Philippines.

This yearโ€™s celebration carries the theme โ€œClean Seas for Resilient Communities,โ€ highlighting the importance of collective action in protecting our coastal and inland water ecosystems, reducing marine litter, and promoting environmental stewardship.

In support of this advocacy, DILG Maasin City encourages local government units, barangays, partner agencies, civil society organizations, and communities to actively participate in coastal clean-up activities and other initiatives that contribute to the protection and preservation of our marine and aquatic resources.

The activity underscores the importance of community participation, responsible waste management, and sustained environmental action in keeping our waterways clean and ensuring healthier, safer, and more resilient communities for present and future generations.

Through its continuing support to local governance and environmental initiatives, DILG Maasin City reaffirms its commitment to strengthening community engagement and fostering shared responsibility in safeguarding the environment and our precious coastal and water resources.
