UP Tacloban’s Ugnayan ng Pahinungód, the volunteer service corps of the university, mobilized the initiative as part of the college’s annual Dayon Kamo ha UP campaign to encourage senior high school students in the region to take the UP College Admissions Test (UPCAT) and pursue college education at UP Tacloban.
During the two-day rollout, campaign teams visited 107 identified schools across 63 municipalities in Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Samar, and Eastern Samar.
The campaign reached Almeria, Biliran, Cabucgayan, Caibiran, Culaba, and Kawayan in Biliran province. In Leyte, teams worked across western and Ormoc City corridor towns (Albuera, Hindang, Inopacan, Isabel, Kananga, Merida, Palompon, Matag-ob), northern and central areas (Capoocan, Carigara, Barugo, Tunga, Villaba, Tabango, Leyte), and eastern corridor municipalities (Abuyog, Javier, Mahaplag), including key central hubs such as Palo, Burauen, Dagami, and Pastrana.
In Southern Leyte, teams covered the southern and Pacific-facing municipalities (San Ricardo, Pintuyan, San Francisco, Liloan, San Juan, Anahawan) as well as the central and western areas (Hinunangan, Hinundayan, Libagon, Malitbog, Silago, Tomas Oppus). In Samar, they reached western and central municipalities (Calbiga, Santa Margarita, Gandara, Tarangnan, Villareal), alongside interior towns (San Jorge, Paranas, Motiong, Jiabong, Hinabangan, San Sebastian).
In Eastern Samar, teams went to northern municipalities (Arteche, Can-avid), central towns (Oras, Dolores, Taft, Sulat), and southern Pacific-facing municipalities (Balangkayan, Llorente, Hernani, Giporlos, Balangiga, General MacArthur, San Julian).
UP Tacloban's Dayon Kamo ha UP campaign serves as one of its key institutional initiatives to democratize access to information on UP college admissions, scholarships, and academic programs, particularly for prospective UP students in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas across the region.
