Para ha konsehal, kinahanglan klaro an ginsusugtan han ordinance agud malikyan an posibilidad nga an usa nga operasyon nga ginpapakilala nga “mini-carnival” magin iba an aktuwal nga mga aktibidad.

Prices Keep Rising: EV Inflation Hits 8.3% in July

The cost of living in Eastern Visayas continued to climb in July, with the region's inflation rate rising to 8.3%, from 7.0% in June.

That's higher than the 6.2% national inflation rate and makes Eastern Visayas the 4th highest among all regions in the country.
But what does this mean for ordinary families?

🍚 Rice inflation: 20.4%
🐟 Fish & seafood: 8.2%
🥬 Vegetables, bananas & pulses: 10.6%
💡 Housing, electricity, gas & fuel: 9.6%
🚌 Transport: 16.6%

Food remains the biggest source of pressure, accounting for 43.9% of the region's overall inflation.

And the situation varies across the region.

🔴 Samar — 13.3%
🔴 Biliran — 12.0%
🟠 Northern Samar — 8.5%
🟠 Southern Leyte — 8.5%
🟠 Eastern Samar — 8.2%
🟡 Leyte — 6.3%
🟢 Tacloban City — 4.1%

A year ago, Eastern Visayas recorded a 0.2% decline in prices. Today, families are facing significantly higher costs for food, utilities and transportation.

The big question: Is this a temporary spike—or are Eastern Visayas families facing a longer period of rising prices?

TDN will continue to follow the numbers and, more importantly, examine how inflation is affecting ordinary families and communities across Eastern Visayas.
