RECOVERY OF UNEXPLODED ORDNANCE (UXOs)

At about 11:45 AM on April 23, 2026, Pat Jefferson Olesco received information through a phone call from Pat Mario V Gulane, Duty TOC of NAIA Terminal 2, regarding the presence of alleged unexploded ordnance (UXOs) discovered at Taxiway Juliet within the NAIA Complex, Terminal 3, Pasay City. In line with the PNP Focused Agenda on Enhanced Managing Police Operations, a dispatch team was immediately mobilized to ensure a timely and coordinated response.

At about 11:53 AM, personnel of this Group, led by PEMS Romar Magbanua, EOD Technician, promptly arrived at the scene and coordinated with PLT Ferdinand DL Miguel, SDO NAIA T2, through PCpl Richmon Borres, Investigation PNCO. Demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and operational readiness, the EOD Team conducted a thorough visual inspection and threat assessment prior to initiating recovery procedures. Utilizing the Pick-Up and Carry Away (PUCA) method, the team safely recovered the following items: fifteen (15) rounds of 25mm High-Explosive (HE) cartridges (corroded), one (1) twin mount Japanese Type 96 25mm Anti-Tank/Anti-Aircraft gun (corroded), and one (1) .50 caliber machine gun (corroded).

All recovered UXOs and light anti-aircraft weapons were transported to the AVSECU Headquarters Office for proper documentation, safekeeping, and disposition, in adherence to established protocols and integrity standards of the organization.

This operation reflects the PNP’s unwavering commitment to public safety, efficiency in police operations, and strengthened coordination among units, ensuring that potential threats are addressed promptly and effectively.
