Taguig observed its 81st Liberation Day with a ceremony at the City Hall Grounds, honoring the bravery and sacrifices of the veterans who helped free the city from Japanese occupation on February 23, 1945.

The Philippine Army joined veterans from the Veterans Federation of the Philippines Sons and Daughters Association, Inc., along with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Taguig Integrated School, in commemorating the historic event. The Philippine Army Band, together with the Taguig City Chorale and Band, led the singing of the national anthem and the Taguig March.

Mayor Lani Cayetano, Vice Mayor Arvin Ian Alit, members of the City Council, and other city officials led the wreath-laying ceremony alongside representatives from Barangay Tuktukan, the veteransโ€™ federation, Post Commanders of the 17th and 13th Districts, Retired Colonel Gerry Besana of the Philippine Army, Retired Brigadier General William Esplana of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Veteran Telesforo T. Gammad, president of the Veterans Federation of Taguig-Pateros. The tribute concluded with a gun salute by the Philippine Army.

The annual observance honors the courage and resilience of those who fought and suffered for freedom, reminding todayโ€™s generation to carry forward the values of unity, integrity, and service.

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines presents the official theme for History Month this coming August 2025: "๐——๐—ถ๐˜„๐—ฎ ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ž๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐˜†๐˜€๐—ฎ๐˜†๐—ฎ๐—ป, ๐—ž๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—ถ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป ๐˜€๐—ฎ ๐—ž๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ฎ๐—ป"

The theme highlights the role of the youth in forming, making, writing, and protecting our peoples' history and culture. From the heroes who exemplified heroism and valor in spite of their youth, to the young cultural workers and culture bearers who continue to discover, research, document, and live our heritage, we recognize the youth as the protectors of the spirit of our nation. This is also in line with the celebration of 2025 as the Year of the Youth in Philippine History.

Follow us and stay updated as we release the official poster, calendar, and other materials for History Month 2025!
