The City of Taguig highlighted its infrastructure progress and push for digitalized engineering systems during Monday's flag-raising ceremony on March 30, led by the City Engineer’s Office with the theme “Smart Engineering for a Sustainable Future through Innovation and Digitalization.”

The ceremony focused on the role of infrastructure and engineering in building a resilient and future-ready city, as the City cited completed projects and ongoing works across sectors.

Among the major projects completed in 2025 were the Taguig City General Hospital, new multipurpose buildings in different barangays, health centers, daycare centers, baseball park, and the Taguig Play Park, now serving as hubs for governance, health services, and community activities.

In education, the city completed electrical system upgrades in 11 schools and rehabilitation works in 35 schools, including those in the EMBO barangays. Robotics laboratories were also opened at Western Bicutan National High School, Taguig Science High School, Makati Science High School, and Benigno S. Aquino High School.

The City Engineer’s Office also reported continued road repairs, asphalting, and regular drainage declogging to improve traffic flow and reduce flooding. The drainage system at the Lakeshore Complex has also been completed.

City Engineer’s Office’s Engr. Sharlene Grace Nudalo, representing the Department Head Engr. Marcelo Serpa Juan, underscored the office’s mandate to ensure safe and reliable infrastructure:

“Tungkulin ng City Engineer’s Office ang patuloy na pagpapatayo, pagpapanatili, at inspeksyon ng mga gusali, street lighting, at drainage systems upang masiguro ang kaligtasan at maayos na pamumuhay sa ating lungsod. Sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa iba’t ibang tanggapan at komunidad, sinisiguro namin na ang bawat proyekto ay maayos na napaplano at naipatutupad para sa kapakinabangan ng lahat.”

Meanwhile, Councilor Allan Paul Cruz, chairperson of the Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure, conveyed the City Council’s support for the office’s programs:

“Makakaasa po kayo na patuloy po kaming makikipagtulungan upang maisakatuparan ang mga proyektong magbibigay ng mas ligtas, maayos, at maunlad na kapaligiran para sa bawat Taguigeño. Ang ating pagkakaisa at matalinong pagpaplano ang magsisilbing susi sa patuloy na pag-unlad ng ating lungsod.”
