A mission-ready Navy understands both the maritime threat and the people affected by it.

As part of the 23rd ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus Experts’ Working Group on Maritime Security, the Philippine Navy joined regional defense partners for a Women, Peace and Security (WPS) exchange on 21 September 2026 in Subic and online.

Mr. John Rey P. Catalan of OPAPRU and Lieutenant Erika Peters of the Royal Australian Navy shared how WPS can be applied in naval strategy, planning and operations.

These insights can help the PN make better decisions, work more effectively with partner navies, and respond to the needs of Filipinos affected by maritime security challenges.

A stronger Navy sees the full picture and serves the Filipino people better.

For an archipelagic nation, maritime security is part of everyday life.

The Gender and Development Office, Philippine Navy participated in the National Consultation for the Philippine Plan for Gender-Transformative Development 2026–2040, conducted by the Philippine Commission on Women in partnership with the UP Center for Women’s and Gender Studies on 21–23 September 2026 in Quezon City.

GADO, PN raised how maritime security affects the safety and livelihoods of Filipinos, including the distinct experiences of women, girls, and coastal communities. Bringing these realities into national planning helps the Navy better understand the people it serves and strengthens its contribution to a safer, more resilient Bagong Pilipinas.
