Mercedes Officials join Brigada Eskwela Effort at Central School.

The Barangay Council of Mercedes headed by Chairman Romeo Fayluga joined Mercedes Central School on the first day of Brigada Eskwela, together with Kagawad Noel Arquiza, staff, tanods, and Barangay Intelligence Network members. Chairman Fayluga stressed the importance of unity and bayanihan between the barangay, teachers, parents, and volunteers, saying Mercedes Central School is now welcoming learners with cleaner and more student-friendly facilities.

Kagawad Noel Arquiza focused on traffic management around the school. He said the council is coordinating a traffic scheme to organize the dropping off and pickup of students, especially during peak hours when congestion is heaviest. Tanods and BIN members will be deployed to help direct vehicles and keep pedestrian lanes safe for children and parents.

School officials welcomed the barangay’s support, noting that the joint effort reduced the workload of teachers and volunteers and allowed more time for academic preparations. The Barangay Council reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting education programs in Mercedes by addressing safety, cleanliness, and accessibility for students throughout the school year.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zamboanga City Field Office recently presented the current report submission status of barangays through its Monitoring System, highlighting the compliance performance of barangays in submitting mandatory reports and documentary requirements.

We are proud to share that the Barangay Government of Mercedes achieved a high compliance rate of 80%, placing it among the recognized barangays with commendable performance in report submission and compliance.

This achievement reflects the dedication, commitment, and teamwork of the barangay officials, administrative personnel, and staff who continuously work to ensure transparency, accountability, and efficient public service. It is a testament not only to the systems in place but also to the hardworking individuals behind them who remain committed to fulfilling their duties and responsibilities.

Barangay Mercedes Conducts Resident and Kasambahay Profiling in Doña Felisa Subdivision.

The Barangay Council of Mercedes carried out a profiling survey of residents and domestic workers in Doña Felisa Subdivision as part of its community data-gathering initiative.

The survey was conducted by Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) beneficiaries assigned under the Barangay Employment Office.

The activity aimed to update the barangay’s records on households and kasambahay within the subdivision.

The initiative was supervised by Kagawad Christopher Lago, Focal Person of the Barangay Employment Service Office (BESO). Officials said the data will help the barangay in planning programs and services for residents and workers in the area.

Today, the Sangguniang Barangay members, Hon. Noel Arquiza, Hon. Arnold Juaton, and Hon. Carina Dela Cruz, conducted a Public Consultation regarding the traffic scheme implementation on different streets in preparation for the reopening of classes this school year. Present during the hearing were store owners and stakeholders along the affected areas who shared their concerns and suggestions regarding the proposed traffic flow and road management. The activity aims to ensure the safety and convenience of students, motorists, and residents during the school opening.

The Barangay Information and Communications Technology (BICT) of the Barangay Government of Mercedes conducted a Computer Literacy and Data Privacy Training.

The activity was attended by the resource speaker, Ms. Fhlori Maye V. Luna from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), together with the Sangguniang Barangay members, Barangay Administrator, and staff.

The training aimed to provide additional knowledge and skills on computer literacy, data privacy awareness, and the importance of digitalization in delivering effective and efficient public service. Through this activity, participants gained a better understanding of how technology can help improve communication, records management, and other barangay services for the community.
