SK-KK Barangay Mercedes

In support of the DepEd's Brigada Eskwela Program, the SK Mercedes Council actively participated and extended its assistance to the schools within Barangay Mercedes, particularly the Mercedes Central School, Mercedes National High School, Mulu-Muluan Elementary School, and Lumbayao Elementary School.

This initiative reflects the Council's continued commitment to promoting quality education and fostering a safe, clean, and conducive learning environment for all learners as they prepare for the opening of another school year.

Present during the activity were SK Mercedes Treasurer Mr. Gemerick Zapanta and SB Member Hon. Cary John Pioc, Chairperson on Appropriations, who joined school officials, teachers, parents, volunteers, and community stakeholders in demonstrating the spirit of volunteerism and bayanihan.

The SK-KK Barangay Mercedes is now officially accepting applications for the Barangay Mercedes Academic Excellence Incentives for qualified Latin Honors graduates.

This initiative is pursuant to Barangay Ordinance No. 2025-016, Series of 2025, entitled:

"𝘈𝘯 𝘖𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘐𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘖𝘣𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘓𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘏𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘴, 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘈𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘨𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘒𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘢𝘯 (𝘚𝘒) 𝘍𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘺 𝘔𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘴, 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘡𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘰𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢."

This landmark ordinance was authored by SK Chairperson Hon. Jolane Toribio Salanguit and SB Member Hon. Cary John Pioc, and proudly stands as the first barangay-based academic incentive ordinance for Latin Honors graduates to be enacted in Zamboanga City.

This achievement would not have been possible without the strong support, collective vision, and unwavering commitment of the entire SK Mercedes Council and KK Mercedes Officers, whose dedication to advancing education and youth development paved the way for this historic initiative. Their shared belief that academic excellence deserves recognition has transformed this vision into a lasting program that will benefit generations of Mercedes youth. 🧡💚

More than a financial incentive, this ordinance is a statement that Barangay Mercedes values education, honors achievement, and invests in the future of its young leaders. Through this program, we hope to inspire more students to strive for excellence and pursue their dreams with confidence and determination.

The SK Mercedes, together with PYAP Mercedes, successfully organized the Education, Entrepreneur-Ready, and Gender-Sensitive Space during the Vegetable Pickling Training & Simulation.

This session aimed to equip the youth with practical livelihood skills, strengthen entrepreneurial mindset, and promote awareness on gender sensitivity—empowering young individuals to become productive, responsible, and inclusive leaders in the community.
