Cavite City, 03 June 2026 โ The 1st Marine Rifle Battalion formally opened the Basic Safety Driving Training at Headquarters, 1st Marine Rifle Battalion, Naval Base Heracleo Alano, Sangley Point, Cavite City.
This seven-day training aims to enhance the knowledge, skills, and awareness of participants on safe and responsible vehicle operation in connection with the guidance if the Commandant, Philippine Marine Corps that every marine should develop life competency skills.
Through a combination lectures and practical exercises, the program seeks to develop competent drivers who can effectively support the battalion's operational and administrative requirements while prioritizing safety at all times.
During the opening ceremony, LTCOL EDGAR S BERNARDO JR PN(M), Commanding Officer, 1MRBn, highlighted the importance of the training and reminded participants that safety driving extends beyond simply knowing how to operate a vehicle. He emphasized that being a safe driver requires discipline, responsibility, sound judgment, and adherence to established traffic laws and regulations.
The Commanding Officer encouraged all participants to actively engage in the training and apply the lessons learned in their daily duties, stressing that responsible driving reflects the professionalism, competence, and character expected of every Marine.

On May 29, 2026, the Commander, Philippine Marine Ready ForceโNational Capital Region (PMRF-NCR), COL JOSE MARIE T SANTOS PN(M) (MNSA), officially visited the Headquarters of the 1st Marine Rifle Battalion (1MRBn) at Naval Base Heracleo Alano, Sangley Point, Cavite City.
The officers and enlisted personnel of the battalion rendered military honors and received COL SANTOS PN(M)(MNSA) upon his arrival.
During the visit, 1MRBn presented a unit briefing to the Commander, PMRF-NCR, highlighting the battalionโs current operational status and ongoing initiatives. The visit serves as a significant milestone in strengthening command presence, enhancing troop morale, and evaluating the operational readiness and ongoing community engagement efforts of 1MRBn in the operational area.
The engagement served as an avenue to discuss plans and priorities geared toward strengthening operational readiness, mission effectiveness, and organizational development in support of the Philippine Marine Corpsโ mandate.

๐๐๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ๐ ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ โ On 23 May 2026, the 1st Marine Rifle Battalion officially welcomed its newly reported officers through Reception Rites highlighted by a demanding 21-kilometer forcible march at Naval Base Heracleo Alano, Sangley Point, Cavite City.
Reenforcing the principle of his leadership, the Commanding Officer of 1MRBn, LTCOL EDGAR S. BERNARDO JR PN(M), alongside the Battalion Operations Officer, MAJ DEXTER S. BERNESTO PN(M), and other officer and EP marched together with the young lieutenants, demonstrating the battalionโs enduring culture of camaraderie and resilience.
The activity was conducted in line with the guidance of Higher Headquarters to provide newly reported officers with meaningful career development opportunities and to prepare them for future leadership roles within the Corps. The reception rites also served as an introduction to the battalionโs operational environment while enhancing the officersโ commitment to the mission, brotherhood and esprit de corps to the Marines they will work alongside, readiness for operational duties, and the mindset of perseverance despite hardship. It also reinforced the Commanding Officerโs guiding philosophy, โWe Are One,โ emphasizing unity, teamwork, and collective commitment in mission accomplishment.

On 20 May 2025, the Commanding Officer of the 1st Marine Rifle Battalion, LTCOL EDGAR S BERNARDO JR PN(M), paid a courtesy call with the Vice Commander, Philippine Navy, MGEN EDWIN E AMADAR PN(M), at Headquarters Philippine Navy, Roxas Boulevard, Manila.
The engagement emphasized ongoing efforts to maintain a high level of readiness and responsiveness to operational requirements, reinforcing the unitโs standing as the most ready unit and to continue the accomplishments and uphold the proud legacy of 1MRBn. It likewise stressed the importance of ensuring operational efficiency and the effective ex*****on of assigned missions.
MGEN EDWIN E AMADAR PN(M), Vice Commander, PN, was also the 25th Commanding Officer of the 1MRBn from 05 August 2010 to 12 April 2012.

On 16 May 2026, the 1st Marine Rifle Battalion warmly welcomed the Commander, National Capital Region Command (NCRCom), MGEN GREGORIO B HERNANDEZ JR PN(M), during his official visit at Sangley Point, Naval Base Cavite.
Upon arrival, MGEN HERNANDEZ was rendered military honors and received by the officers and enlisted personnel of the battalion.
During the visit, MGEN HERNANDEZ was briefed on the battalionโs current operational status, mission accomplishments, and ongoing preparations to ensure sustained operational readiness. Discussions focused on enhancing interoperability, strengthening security operations within the National Capital Region area of responsibility, and maintaining a high level of responsiveness in support of internal security and territorial defense missions.
The Commander emphasized the importance of operational readiness, leadership at all levels, and continuous training to ensure that Marine units remain capable of addressing emerging and evolving security challenges. He likewise underscored the value of discipline, adaptability, and unity of effort in achieving mission success.

The Commanding Officer of the 1st Marine Rifle Battalion (1MRBn), LTCOL EDGAR S. BERNARDO JR. PN(M), conducted a series of courtesy calls to key naval and marine operational leaders following the battalionโs transfer and operational deployment to the National Capital Region (NCR).
LTCOL BERNARDO PN(M) paid a courtesy call to CAPT HERNANE DC LANES (GSC), Commander of the Naval Installation Facility (NIF)- Cavite. The visit underscored the battalionโs appreciation for the support and assistance extended by NIF, particularly in providing billeting accommodations for the personnel of 1MRBn during its deployment in NCR.
In another separate call, LTCOL BERNARDO PN(M) met with COL JOEL C. BONAVENTE PN(M)(GSC), Deputy Commander for Marine Operations (MAROPS). The engagements highlighted the importance of interoperability, operational coordination, and strengthened partnership between 1MRBn and naval units within the NCR Area of Responsibility. On 13 May 2026, the 1st Marine Rifle Battalion formally Opened the Marine Special Operations Training Class 01-2026 at the Basic School, Ternate, Cavite. A total of fifty (50) Marine students officially commenced the 45-day rigid and intensive training designed to enhance their combat proficiency, operational readiness, and special operations capabilities.
The activity was graced by the Commanding Officer of 1st Marine Rifle Battalion, LTCOL EDGAR S BERNARDO JR PN(M), as presiding officer. In his message, he emphasize that every Marine must be skilled, knowledgeable, disciplined, and physically prepared to effectively meet the demands of military operations. He further encouraged the students to remain committed, resilient, and determined throughout the duration of the training.
The Marine Special Operations Training aims to develop competent and mission-ready Marines equipped with the necessary tactical knowledge, leadership, and combat skills essential in accomplishing various operational missions of the Philippine Marine Corps.
