PNP READY FOR TRANSPORT STRIKE; DEPLOYS NEARLY 10,000 PERSONNEL IN NCR
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday assured the public of its full preparedness for the scheduled transport strike on March 19, 2026, with heightened security and assistance measures in place nationwide, particularly in Metro Manila.
A total of 9,979 personnel from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) have been strategically deployed to ensure public safety, manage traffic flow, and assist affected commuters. Of this number, 571 personnel are assigned to fixed visibility posts, 1,564 to mobile patrol operations, 1,298 to motorcycle patrols, and 2,312 to foot patrol duties to maximize police presence in key areas.
To further support mobility and order, 193 personnel have been designated for traffic assistance, while 1,701 are manning checkpoints and border control points. Additionally, 585 Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) personnel are on active deployment, with 1,604 on standby as augmentation forces. The deployment is reinforced by 428 Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) personnel and 59 drone operators to enhance situational awareness and monitoring.
The PNP is also coordinating with concerned government agencies and local government units to support “Libreng Sakay” initiatives to help stranded passengers reach their destinations.
PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., emphasized the organization’s readiness and commitment to serve.
“Handa ang inyong kapulisan. We are fully deployed to ensure that our fellow Filipinos remain safe and can still go about their daily activities despite the situation. Nandito kami hindi lang para magpatupad ng batas kundi para tumulong.”
He added, “We respect the right to peaceful assembly, but we will not allow any disruption that will endanger public safety. Tuloy-tuloy ang ating pagbabantay at pag-alalay sa ating mga kababayan.”
This operational posture is in line with the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, ensuring proactive deployment, strong visibility, and immediate response capability. The initiative also supports the directive of Ferdinand R Marcos Jr. to safeguard public order while ensuring that essential services remain accessible to all.
The PNP encourages the public to remain patient, stay informed, and coordinate with authorities for assistance. Commuters are advised to plan their travel ahead and avail of government-supported transport options where available.
The PNP remains committed to delivering responsive and people-centered policing, in line with its vision of a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

PNP ARRESTS TWO MOST WANTED PERSONS, FACILITATES CTG MEMBER SURRENDER IN EASTERN VISAYAS
The Philippine National Police, under the leadership of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., reported the arrest of two high-profile wanted persons and the surrender of a Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) member in separate operations conducted by Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) on March 4, 2026 in Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Samar.
In Allen, Northern Samar, personnel of the Allen Municipal Police Station together with San Roque Municipal Police Station and the 1st Northern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company arrested alias “Leo,” a 79-year-old Filipino male farmer and the region’s No. 7 Most Wanted Person. He was apprehended by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued on May 4, 2020 for murder, with no recommended bail. The suspect is now under police custody pending turnover to the issuing court for appropriate judicial proceedings.
Meanwhile in Borongan City, Eastern Samar, joint elements of the 801st Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 8, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and the 1st Eastern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company arrested alias “Ruel,” a 61-year-old Filipino male store owner listed as the National Capital Region Police Office’s No. 3 Most Wanted Person. The arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant issued on August 8, 2022 for Acts of Lasciviousness with a recommended bail of Php180,000.00 and Lascivious Conduct with a recommended bail of Php200,000.00.
In a separate development in Marabut, Samar, personnel of the 2nd Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company together with the Regional Intelligence Unit 8 facilitated the surrender of alias “Sonnie,” a 44-year-old Filipino male farmer and former member of the Sub-Regional Committee SESAME of the Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee. During the surrender, the individual also turned over one MK2 gr***de with faded markings suspected to be live. The surrenderer is currently under the custody of the 2nd Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company for proper disposition and assessment, including possible enrollment in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
“These accomplishments demonstrate our sustained effort to locate wanted persons and prevent threats that endanger communities. Every arrest and surrender strengthens the rule of law and reinforces the responsibility of the police to protect the public,” said PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.
“Patuloy nating pinapaigting ang operasyon laban sa kriminalidad at armadong grupo. Malinaw ang mensahe ng PNP—may puwang ang pagbabagong buhay para sa mga nais sumuko, ngunit pananagutan ang haharapin ng mga patuloy na lumalabag sa batas,” he added.
These accomplishments reflect the direction of the PNP Focused Agenda—an institutional framework of transformation designed to make police service more responsive and accountable to the public. At the heart of this agenda are key priorities that define the course of the PNP, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which strengthens the conduct of sustained law enforcement actions against fugitives and insurgency-related threats.
As the PNP sustains intensified law enforcement operations and encourages the peaceful reintegration of former insurgents under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it continues to assure the public of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”
